Nobody told me that trauma lives in your blood.
Not poetically. Literally.
In your inflammation. Your hormones. Your insulin. Your vitamin levels. Your immune cells. All of it carrying the biological fingerprint of everything your body has been through.
I did everything right. I ate clean. I exercised. I showed up for myself every single day. And I still felt like something was deeply wrong that nobody could see or explain.
Because what most health experts and traditional doctors don't tell you is this.
Your body is not a template. It is a biography.
Every high stress period you survived. Every traumatic event your nervous system absorbed. Every unsafe environment you had to navigate. Every time your body stayed in fight or flight longer than it was designed to. All of it left a mark. A real, measurable, biological mark.
And it shows up in your bloodwork if someone actually knows how to read it.
Here is what chronic stress and trauma actually do to your body.
They dysregulate your stress hormone system so your cortisol never fully settles. They steal the building blocks your body needs to make progesterone, leaving you hormonally depleted in ways that look like anxiety, mood swings, and poor sleep. They drive inflammation that no amount of clean eating resolves on its own. They make your cells resistant to insulin even when your diet is good. They deplete your Vitamin D, your folate, your magnesium. They change the way your gut absorbs nutrition. They suppress your immune system in some places and overactivate it in others.
And then you go to a doctor and your labs come back normal.
And you are told to eat more vegetables and stress less.
And you start to wonder if it is all in your head.
It is not in your head.
It is in your blood. It is in your hormones. It is in your nervous system. It is measurable and real and most importantly it is addressable.
Here is something else nobody talks about.
I tried carnivore and keto and felt genuinely amazing. My inflammation calmed down. My energy stabilized. My brain worked differently. My body was finally responding to something.
And then I let the noise get to me.
The fear based narratives. The warnings about cholesterol and saturated fat and sustainability. The well meaning people telling me it was extreme and dangerous and that I needed more balance. I stepped away from what was actually working because I was told I should be scared of it.
My body paid the price every single time I did.
Because here is the truth. What feels extreme to a body that has never been through anything is sometimes exactly what a body like mine needs. A body whose nervous system has been running on high alert for years. A body whose insulin resistance and inflammation aren't about willpower or balance. They are about biology.
Generic dietary advice is built for generic people. Not for people whose metabolic landscape has been shaped by trauma, chronic stress, and years of their body trying to survive.
When I finally got comprehensive testing done everything made sense for the first time.
The fatigue that exercise should have fixed but didn't. The inflammation that clean eating should have resolved but wouldn't. The mood shifts that felt disconnected from anything logical. The stress response that never fully settled no matter how much breathwork or meditation I did. Why carnivore and keto felt like the first real relief I had found.
All of it had a biological explanation rooted in what my body had been through.
You are not crazy.
You are not weak.
You are not broken.
You are someone whose body adapted brilliantly to survive something hard and is still running those programs even though the threat has passed.
Stop letting fear based narratives pull you away from what your body is actually telling you it needs.
Get the testing. Find someone who reads the full picture. Learn your variables. Trust what your body is showing you.
Your body has been keeping score. It is time to read the scorecard.
