🔆It’s true! I’m moving & Interwoven Doula Care is coming with! 🔆

My dearest ATX,

You have shown me so much more than I ever thought a city could. You’ve given me lifelong friends & meaningful community. You’ve proved that birthworkers make THEE best co-workers. You gave me a soul to partner with that is uniquely different yet so much the same as my own. Most importantly, you revealed me to myself. You taught me so many different ways to Love 💕

You forced me into survival mode & then showed me how to access support from the most genuine people 💫

Soon it’ll be time for me to say goodbye. But not really. These people, the community, this city will always be a piece of me 🌇

Thanks for transforming me in the 6 years we’ve been together. I knew we wouldn’t last forever because greater than any other force upon me is the love I have for my family. Moments with them are fleeting. It’s time to shift 🍃

My amazing fiancé & I will be moving in to help care for my Grammy in Cleveland, OH in October 2022. Ya know, to doula her. To show her all the forms of love you’ve taught me. To hold her the same way she held baby me ✨

🌱Postpartum Planning🌱 We put so much emphasis on the birth but what happens after?
What is the “fourth trimester”?What should your considerations be? Not only individually. Also, as a partner, parent, child, friend, roommate, employee
These are what I’ve identified as key themes to consider throughout your postpartum period. Which by the way, has no time parameters on it. You could be in this “fourth trimester” transitional phase for weeks, months, or years. And that is 100% okay! Go at your own pace & give yourself all of the grace
Prenatal planning is a huge tool to utilize. Take the time to reflect on your own expectations & discuss with the support system you will build
When your baby arrives remember that your needs still matter. Take space, move slow, & lean on others as much as you can
Chat with your birth team about how you should be planning for your postpartum period

Today we highlight advanced associate doula, Dominique A. Wyse. She is a birth and postpartum doula who began her journey in birthwork by way of supporting families in the nanny role. Dominique quickly realized she found true fulfillment in supporting the entire family and decided to pursue postpartum doula care. After entering the postpartum care world, Dominique was quickly drawn to birth work. She realized there was an opportunity for her to support families in the birth doula role and continued her training. Dominique feels strongly about lowering maternal mortality rates, especially within BIPOC communities. She is actively working to improve maternal health statistics by way of doula support. She believes that everyone deserves equitable, safe, and empowering support regardless of race, gender, religion, or socioeconomic status. Dominique is currently living and supporting clients in Austin, Texas where she lives with her partner, Levi and their dog, Arlo.
