How do you screen for CIRS? 1) You ask the 37 symptoms in 13 groups, known as “cluster symptoms”. 2) You combine this with a Visual Contrast Sensitivity test. These two screenings get you to a 1 in 50 chance you’re wrong about the CIRS diagnosis. 3) Then you follow this with specific confirmatory labs, which we discuss on the podcast.

Once you are confirmed CIRS, you move forward with the CIRS/Shoemaker protocol. Dr. D published a paper on this last summer with all the details and it’s available to anyone online.

If you remediated mold and still aren’t feeling well, have you checked for endotoxins?

This is crazyyy important because SO many of us move out of our homes for long periods of time while remediation is happening. Make sure you test for this and fill your p traps before you spend the money on small particle cleaning the whole house! Otherwise you might have to SPC all over again like me 🫣

I am learning so much from and and I wish I had found their instagrams before I moved back into my house. has an online community you can join to learn more about it and ask her questions in the community too. Highly recommend!

Navigating CIRS can feel overwhelming or hopeless. But the diagnostic need to find your underlying causes, never changes. If you need to remediate, you need to remediate. The diagnostic data needed to figure out YOUR specific underlying causes of “why” doesn’t change.

What changes, is how you approach your situation. You can approach this journey with fear and helplessness, or you can approach it with compassion and agency! Fear and helplessness will not get you better. You have to also trust that things will get better. You have a protocol based on data-driven truth. Do not panic and do NOT give up! You can do this 💪🏼

Ever wondered what normal legs do after a long day of being on your feet in the hot humid weather? Absolutely nothing. But when you have Lipedema, even if it’s only stage one, you may experience heaviness and fluid retention. You may experience a dull, aching pain that won’t go away. If this is you, you may have Lipedema!

Swelling is just one of the many symptoms of Lipedema. Some people don’t even experience pain. But for me personally I do experience quite a bit of pain, even with just stage one. The strangest thing happened to me when I was living in mold. And it’s something that I see time and time again with the people who reach out to me. we get sicker and sicker, and yet we make every excuse for why we can’t leave the house. Financial issues, we don’t have time, or the mold isn’t really that bad. You name it.

When you’re living in mold, sometimes you just DON’T WANT TO LEAVE! You don’t want to leave the house. You become a homebody. In the same environment that’s making you sick. But why would anybody want to stay in an environment that’s making them sick?

Trauma Freeze: Your body‘s way of protecting you!

Your body's response to trauma can take many different forms. I had heard of “fight or flight” but nobody ever told me about freeze. Back then, I was in such a state of burnout that I could barely function. In retrospect, my body was trying to communicate with me, and I just didn’t know how to listen yet.

I’m so grateful for everything that I’ve learned since then, and I want to help people learn from my mistakes!
