May is AAPI Heritage Month — a time to honor the resilience, brilliance, and humanity of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
In moments when public rhetoric and political leadership have fueled xenophobia, scapegoating, and fear toward AAPI communities, it matters to name the harm. Words from powerful leaders—including Donald Trump’s repeated use of language that many experienced as racist and dehumanizing—have consequences. They shape how people are treated, how safe they feel, and whether they feel they belong.
As therapists, we know that belonging is not a luxury. It is part of healing.
AAPI communities are not monolithic. They are richly diverse—holding generations of culture, language, migration stories, artistry, spirituality, activism, care, and joy. Their contributions shape our neighborhoods, families, classrooms, medicine, food, music, and collective imagination.
This month, and every month, we offer a different message:
You do not have to earn your humanity.
Your culture is not a threat.
Your story matters.
You deserve safety, dignity, and belonging.
May we challenge prejudice wherever it appears and choose curiosity over fear, connection over division, and solidarity over silence.

This Maternal Mental Health Month, we’re making space for the real postpartum experience — the beautiful, messy, exhausting, emotional, and deeply transformative journey into motherhood. 🤍
Dr. Patel’s workbook was created to walk alongside new mothers throughout the first postpartum year, centering the voices, lived experiences, and healing journeys of women of color. Because postpartum is more than just caring for a baby — it’s navigating identity shifts, anxiety, relationship changes, sleep deprivation, cultural expectations, grief, joy, and learning how to care for yourself, too.
Inside are gentle, culturally mindful worksheets, guided reflections, psychoeducation in simple language, and practical tools you can actually use in real life. From surviving the fog to rebuilding connection and reclaiming your sense of self, this is support without shame, pressure, or judgment.
A space to feel seen, grounded, and reminded that you were never meant to do this alone. 🌿

May 15th is Mental Health Action Day — a reminder that mental health care is not optional, political, or a luxury. It is healthcare.
Right now, conversations surrounding mental health legislation are shaping access to therapy, crisis services, insurance coverage, and psychiatric medications for millions of Americans. Advocacy matters because policy directly impacts whether people can receive the support they need.
We are especially concerned by rhetoric questioning or threatening access to SSRIs and other evidence-based mental health treatments. For many Americans, antidepressant medications are not “quick fixes” — they are lifesaving tools that help people function, work, parent, connect, and survive. Decisions about psychiatric care should remain between patients and qualified medical professionals, guided by science and individualized care.
Mental Health Action Day is about more than awareness. It’s about protecting access:
• Access to affordable therapy
• Access to evidence-based treatment
• Access to medication when clinically appropriate
• Access to compassionate, stigma-free care
Mental health policy affects real people, real families, and real lives every single day.
Today, we encourage our community to stay informed, advocate for mental health protections, and continue fighting stigma with empathy and evidence.
You deserve care. You deserve support. And mental health care deserves protection.

Mother’s Day wasn’t always what we see today. It began with Anna Jarvis in the early 1900s, who wanted to honor the quiet, everyday sacrifices of mothers—especially her own. She imagined a day rooted in reflection, gratitude, and meaningful connection… not performance.

Ironically, she later fought against what it became—commercialized, pressured, and centered on perfection over presence.

Today, Mother’s Day can hold many truths at once:
- Deep love and gratitude
- Grief, longing, or complicated relationships
- The invisible labor that often goes unseen

Maybe honoring this day doesn’t have to be loud or expensive.
Maybe it looks like:
– Slowing down and actually being present
– Naming the small, consistent acts of care that often go unnoticed
– Checking in on the mothers who are struggling, grieving, or doing it without support
– Letting it be enough to simply be, not perform

At its core, this day was meant to recognize the steady, everyday love that builds a foundation over time.

And maybe that’s still what matters most...

Couples Appreciation Day feels like a gentle mid-year reminder—love isn’t built in grand gestures alone. It lives in the small, consistent acts: checking in, softening your tone, making space, repairing after hard moments.
In a world that often celebrates the loud and extravagant, we honor the quiet, steady work of showing up for one another—especially when it’s not easy.
Strong foundations aren’t made in a day (or a holiday). They’re built over time, through care, intention, and everyday choices.
Today, we’re celebrating the little things.

Earth Day🌍 Earth Day 2026 | Our Power, Our Planet
This week, four astronauts looked back from 250,000 miles away and saw our whole world — one fragile blue home, cloud-wrapped and luminous, hanging in the dark.
That image has always had the power to change us. And right now, as we face real fears about our climate, our future, and whether it's too late — we think that perspective matters deeply.
Here at Ritual Wellness ATX, we know that eco-anxiety is real. Grief about the world is a form of love. And caring — even when it's hard — is an act of hope.
Our power is not in pretending everything is fine. It's in staying present, staying connected, and believing that what we do today still matters.
🌱 Happy Earth Day. Take a breath. Then take one small step.

April is Arab American Heritage Month — a time to honor the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Arab American communities.
In the therapy space, this month is also a reminder of the importance of culturally responsive care — creating room for identity, language, family dynamics, migration stories, and lived experiences that shape mental health in meaningful ways.
At our Austin practice, we’re committed to listening deeply, learning continuously, and holding space where Arab American clients feel seen, respected, and understood — not just this month, but always.
Representation matters. Cultural humility matters. You matter. 🤍

the Epstein Files, how to protect ourselves especially victims from the trauma. This is not new, this is an old evil.
📌 Save this. Share this. This matters.
The Epstein files are not a conspiracy. They are a confirmation — and for many survivors, they are a wound being reopened in real time.
What we're watching unfold is not new. This is an old, protected evil. Power has always been used to silence, exploit, and discard the vulnerable — and history is filled with the names of those who were never held accountable. What is new is that we are watching, we are naming it, and we are refusing to look away.
To survivors and victims: Your body may be responding to this news in ways that feel overwhelming — anxiety, flashbacks, rage, numbness, grief. That is not weakness. That is your nervous system recognizing a truth it always knew.
Here's how to protect your peace right now: 🔒 Limit your news and social media consumption — you do not owe anyone your suffering 🔒 Ground yourself: name 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear 🔒 Reach out — to a therapist, a trusted person, or a crisis line 🔒 Remind yourself: their accountability is not your burden to carry alone 🔒 Let yourself feel without judgment — anger is valid. Sadness is valid. Relief at being believed is valid.
To everyone watching: Believe survivors. Protect children. Demand accountability — not just from individuals, but from the systems that enabled, funded, and shielded this evil for decades.
Healing is possible. Justice is possible. But neither happens in silence.
🕊️ You are not alone. This office is a safe space.
📞 If you or someone you know needs support, reach out to RAINN at 1-800-656-HOPE or the Crisis Text Line by texting HOME to 741741.

Women’s History month, leads into the Epstein post next week. We commit to not circulating violent or abusive photos or videos or direct conversations from the Epstein list. traumatizing material and conversations about the Epstein list
March is Women’s History Month — a time to honor the strength, resilience, and voices of women past and present. 💬✨
But history isn’t only something we look back on. It’s something we’re still living, still processing, and still healing from together.
Over the next week, we’ll be opening an important conversation about how current events — including the release and discussion surrounding the Epstein Files — are impacting women’s mental health, safety, and sense of trust in the world around them.
This space is rooted in care, accountability, and psychological safety. As we prepare for that discussion, we want to set a clear intention:
"We commit to not circulating violent or abusive photos or videos or direct conversations from the Epstein list"
Women’s History Month reminds us that protecting women’s dignity is part of creating a better future — and that includes how we talk about trauma today.
Stay tuned for next week’s post as we explore this topic with compassion, awareness, and respect. 🤍
