I have been wanting to talk about a tool and a service I am really excited about for a while now, so I'm just going to get right on with it!
It's a two-pillared nervous system support technology. They are called the Safe and Sound Protocol and the Rest and Restore Protocol.
They are created by Dr. Porges, who is the leading voice in Polyvagal Theory. These programs increase your vagal tone (fancy word for nervous system flexibility) using the technology of augmented or filtered music.
These two programs are designed to support and subtly rewire your nervous system toward a fuller sense of connection and safety, or deep physiological relaxation, respectively.
Both of these programs are wonderful tools for someone who is chronically stressed, on edge, sensitive, neurodivergent, depressed, anxious, fearful, isolated, or burnt out.
You can use these tools at your own pace, independently, or with more one-on-one support from me.
What I love about these tools is the huge amount of flexibility in how they can be used. Once you're familiarized with it and how your nervous system responds to it, it's such beneficial supplemental support to go along with many of your other wellness/mental health practices.
I also love seeing the consistent, measurable shifts in people. There is a lot to say about how the program itself is a lot of learning about the nervous system, and that, as a baseline, helps someone improve their nervous system functioning.
Yet, on top of that, I'm repeatedly in awe as I witness and experience firsthand the role that this music technology plays on the body all on its own. It has shown me time and again that there is objective work being done that your mind does not need to be engaged or involved in at all. It's just the music and your body, and you get to receive the benefits and watch it unfold.
I've experienced myself the outcomes of:
- more availability to groundedness in scenarios that are loud, busy, intense, or emotional
- more access to clearer perception
- more space internally to witness any nervous system activation without reacting from it
- less nervous system activation during "stress"
- less anxiety
- deeper rest that leads to more energy afterwards
- more internal calm while in states of low energy
I want to rave about it and talk about it all the time, and I could type out a novel right now! I think I'll start writing bits and pieces, so if people are interested but don't want to act yet, they can continue learning about it on their own time.
