Think you've got it? Drop your answer in the comments!

Fun fact: cryoballoon PVI works by freezing tissue, not burning it. To create durable lesions at the pulmonary vein ostia, the balloon cools enough to form ice crystals inside myocytes and disrupt them permanently. This temperature is well below the point where exposed skin would freeze in seconds, delivered precisely to isolate the veins that trigger AFib.

Which population do you think has the highest diagnosed prevalence of AFib?

If you assumed the group with the most risk factors, the data says otherwise. Diagnosed prevalence is highest in white populations and lower in Black populations, despite a heavier burden of hypertension, diabetes, and heart failure in the latter. Yet when AFib is present, Black patients face worse outcomes, higher stroke, heart failure, and mortality, driven largely by disparities in access, referral, and anticoagulation rather than biology. Lower prevalence does not mean lower risk.

Why do you think this pattern persists, and what should change in how we screen and anticoagulate across populations? Visit hcp.medicalvisual.com to go deeper into this talk and share your takes with Dr. Garg and your peers!

Atrial fibrillation is a supraventricular tachyarrhythmia marked by disorganized atrial activity, producing an irregularly irregular ventricular response, absent distinct P waves, and a fibrillatory baseline.

Learn to recongize it quickly on ECG with our ECG interpretation course by Matt Holden from Scope Education only the Clinician Hub: hcp.medicalvisual.com!

Atrial fibrillation is the most common sustained arrhythmia, and its irregular atrial activity raises the risk of stroke, heart failure, and hemodynamic instability. September is AFib Awareness Month, and we’re dedicating the month to AFib education exclusively on !

Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) is widely used during PCI to see inside the coronary artery in cross-section, where angiography alone falls short. It helps operators size the stent to the true vessel diameter, confirm full expansion and apposition against the wall, and check for edge dissection or incomplete lesion coverage.

Learn the recommended prep steps for IVUS only on the MedicalVisual clinician hub. Comment ""prep"" to get the link.
