As Autism Awareness & Acceptance Month comes to a close, we’re reflecting on one of the greatest privileges we have, learning from the children and adults we serve.

Every day, they show us how to slow down, notice the small things, celebrate progress in all its forms, and see the world through a unique and meaningful lens. We are fortunate to share what they have taught us.

Thank you to our learners and families for allowing us to be part of your journey. We are so grateful to each and everyone of you!

Congratulations Heather!

We're excited to share that Heather Reed is now serving as the Autism Society of Texas Board President! Heather has her 4 year anniversary as a Board Member this month, and we are thrilled to have her Human Resources and leadership experience.

Upon becoming Board President earlier this year Heather said, “I’m thrilled to take on the role of Board President for the Autism Society of Texas! With our passionate Board and talented staff, I’m confident we will achieve remarkable things in 2026 for those we serve and support!”

Heather Reed is the Senior Director Human Resources Business Partner at PayPal and joined our board in 2022. Heather has provided so much support to AST in her time on the board, from sharing her expertise to participating in events and fundraising on AST’s behalf.

April is Autism Acceptance Month 💙

Awareness isn’t new.
We’ve heard the conversations. We’ve seen the posts. We know the stats.

What matters now is what we do with that awareness.

Acceptance looks like:
✔️ Listening to autistic voices
✔️ Supporting neurodiversity without trying to “fix”
✔️ Creating spaces where people feel safe being themselves
✔️ Making real, meaningful accommodations

It’s not about one month.
It’s about everyday actions that make inclusion real.
