Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember every life lost to overdose and every family forever changed by addiction.

Overdose impacts more than one person. Parents, spouses, siblings, children, and loved ones are left navigating grief, fear, substance use disorder, and the complicated road of loving someone through addiction and recovery.

At CARES, families can access free addiction education, family recovery resources, expert conversations, and support in Austin, Lakeway, Bee Cave, and the Texas Hill Country.

Today we remember. We reduce stigma. We keep talking. And we remind families that support is here.

For families affected by addiction, fear can start shaping almost every decision: Do I answer the phone? Do I give them money? Am I enabling them? Should I set a boundary? What if they don’t choose treatment?

There isn’t always an easy answer. But supporting a loved one with substance use disorder doesn’t mean taking responsibility for their recovery.

You can set healthy boundaries.
You can stop rescuing.
You can protect your own well-being.
And you can still love them deeply.

CARES provides free addiction support for families in Austin, Lakeway, Bee Cave, and the Texas Hill Country through addiction education, expert conversations, lived experience, and family recovery resources.

You don’t have to navigate your loved one’s addiction alone.

Fear of the next phone call. Fear of setting a boundary. Fear that helping less means loving less. Fear of what happens if they don’t choose recovery.

But supporting a loved one with substance use disorder doesn’t have to mean making every decision from fear.

Love can look like compassion and boundaries. Support and accountability. Staying connected without trying to control their recovery.

For families navigating addiction in Austin, Lakeway, Bee Cave, and the Texas Hill Country, CARES provides free addiction education, family recovery resources, and conversations with professionals and people who have lived it.

You can love someone deeply without letting fear lead the way.

The person you love is still here, but things feel different.

Their personality may have changed. Your relationship may have changed. The future you pictured with them may feel uncertain.

And you may find yourself thinking, “I just want my person back.”

That grief is real and families need space to understand what they’re experiencing, too.

At CARES, we create space for these conversations through education, expert insight, lived experience, and free resources for families navigating a loved one’s addiction.

You deserve support through this, too.

When someone you love is struggling with addiction, who is helping you through it?

So much of the focus is understandably placed on the person struggling with substance use. But addiction affects the entire family, and the people who love them need support, education, and resources too.

That’s where CARES is different.

We bring together addiction experts, mental health professionals, recovery leaders, and families with lived experience to help you understand addiction, navigate difficult relationships, set healthier boundaries, and protect your own well-being while supporting someone you love.

And CARES support and resources are completely free.

If you’re looking for addiction support for families in Austin, Lakeway, Bee Cave, or the Texas Hill Country, there is a place for you here.

You’ve begged. You’ve cried. You’ve said things at 2am you wish you could take back. And you keep wondering if you’re helping or making it worse.

Can I tell you something? Making them feel guilty won’t make them get better. Guilt fuels addiction. It doesn’t fuel recovery.

But you loving them the right way, with honesty, with boundaries, without shame? That’s more powerful than you know.

You’re not failing. You just haven’t been shown another way. Come let us show you.

Free family support, Link in bio. This one’s for you. 💛
