Knowing what to look for can make all the difference when a suspicious call or letter arrives. 🤔

Sage Park Austin welcomed Captain Michael DeLeon from Travis County for a conversation about scams and the warning signs residents should be aware of. Our residents came ready with questions, taking advantage of the useful and informative discussion.

We’re grateful to Captain DeLeon and the Constable’s Office for the ways they support our community, and we’re looking forward to welcoming them back to help run booths at our Halloween Carnival on Thursday, October 22nd! 🎃

For Natalie, quilting is a family tradition nearly a century in the making! 🧵❤️

Our resident Natalie recently shared her 90 years of quilting experience with Sage Park Austin. She first learned when she was just 5 or 6 years old, following in the footsteps of her great aunt and grandmother. Today, her daughters quilt too, carrying the craft into another generation.

Natalie also puts her skills toward a meaningful purpose, creating children’s-size quilts that she donates to children with cancer at Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Medical Center in Temple, Texas.

means back to one of our favorite monthly traditions! 📚🍎

Sage Park Austin kicked off the first visit of the school year to Hill Elementary, where our residents volunteer once a month with Mrs. Combs’ kindergarten class. During each visit, we bring books to read together, practice counting, sing songs, and spend time getting to know the students.

We’re already looking forward to next month’s visit, and all the books, songs, and lessons still to come!

A new intergenerational music program is underway at Sage Park Austin! 🎶❤️

We kicked off our first official "Music Together" class with Heartsong Music, beginning a 12-week program hosted right here in our community. Sage Park Austin sponsors the space for the class, giving our residents the opportunity to see the children each week and be apart of the musical experience.

We can’t wait to see what the next 11 weeks bring- stay tuned!

Turns out, Tessa wasn’t the only lifeguard expert in the room! 🛟

Tessa, a speech therapist with Powerback, stopped by Sage Park Austin to share a talk on a day in the life of a lifeguard. Several of our residents who were former lifeguards joined the discussion, sharing stories from their own time on duty and adding their firsthand perspectives to the conversation.

festivities continued back at Sage Park Austin with a treat table straight out of Oz! 🌈👠

In honor of the film’s 1939 premiere, Sage Park turned favorite scenes and characters into a seriously clever snack spread. We had Tw***ie “yellow bricks,” Hershey’s Kisses for Tin Man hats, butterscotch “medals of courage,” Smarties for “If I Only Had a Brain,” animal cookies for “Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!” and mint Oreo “Emerald City Ore-Oz.”

And that was only the beginning.... Ding Dongs, lollipops, rainbow M&M’s, and lemon meringues all had their own Oz-inspired role.

Everyone grabbed an Emerald City bag, picked their treats, stopped for a photo, and settled in to watch the movie that inspired it all!

We’re not in Kansas anymore… we’re at Panera Bread! 🌈👠

In honor of "The Wizard of Oz" making its theatrical debut on August 25th, 1939, Sage Park Austin took the Yellow Brick Road straight to lunch, with a few familiar faces along for the journey. Our Resident Lifestyle Director wasn’t about to dress up alone, so Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, and Wicked Witch of the West all joined in on the fun.

Our Oz crew earned cheers everywhere they went, turning an ordinary lunch run into quite the production. Happy from somewhere over the rainbow… or at least somewhere near Panera! 😄

We traded paintbrushes for chains for this art project! 🎨

Our Sage Park Austin residents tried their hand at chain painting with Solace Hospice, using an unexpected technique to create unique works of art. It was a creative challenge and a chance to experiment with an art form that was completely new to us.
