Ser padres es difĂcil. ÂżControlarnos a nosotros mismos mientras criamos a nuestros hijos?

The person struggling may not look like they’re struggling. đŸ€

They may be the friend who is always smiling.
The one who makes everyone laugh.
The one who is always surrounded by people.
The one who checks on everyone else.
The one who says, “I’m good,” without hesitation.

That’s why su***de prevention is about more than looking for sadness or isolation.

Pay attention to changes.

đŸŒ± Losing interest in activities they once enjoyed
đŸŒ± Giving away meaningful belongings
đŸŒ± Pulling away or saying goodbye in unusual ways
đŸŒ± Talking about being a burden or feeling like things won’t get better
đŸŒ± Changes in sleep, eating, mood, or substance use
đŸŒ± Unusual calmness after a period of intense distress
đŸŒ± Statements about wanting to disappear, not wanting to be here, or feeling like there’s no way forward

And remember: not everyone will show obvious warning signs.

If something feels different, trust that feeling enough to check in.

You can start with:

“Hey, you’ve seemed a little different lately. How are you doing?”

And if you’re concerned about su***de, you can ask directly.

“Hey, what’s going on? Are you thinking about su***de?”

You don’t need the perfect words.
You don’t need to fix everything.
You can listen, stay with them, and help connect them to support.

This September, check on the people who seem okay, too.

Sometimes the person who is always there for everyone else needs someone to be there for them. đŸ€

If you or someone you know is struggling or thinking about su***de, call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. If there is immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Parenting is hard. Regulating ourselves while parenting? Even harder. đŸ€Ž

Sometimes our children aren’t the only ones having a big feeling.

We’re overwhelmed.
We’re tired.
We’re frustrated.
We’re trying to break patterns we grew up with while raising our children differently.

And that’s exactly why The Village Starts With Us. đŸŒ±

Join me for a real, supportive conversation about parenting, emotional regulation, connection, boundaries, culture, and breaking cycles.

You’ll leave with simple tools you can actually use at home.

Burnout doesn’t always need another productivity hack. Sometimes, it needs a different approach. đŸŒ±

If Part 1 helped you recognize the signs of burnout, Part 2 is about what you can actually do when you notice them.

Here are 4 simple CBT-informed ways to start interrupting the cycle:

🧠 1. Challenge the irrational thoughts:
Notice the pressure you’re putting on yourself.
Do you really have to do everything? Can you ask for help? Is “good enough” actually enough today?

🌿 2. Regulate your body before your stress takes over:
Relax your jaw. Drop your shoulders. Take one slow breath. Step outside.
You don’t always need a major reset, sometimes your nervous system needs small moments of safety throughout the day.

🎹 3. Make room for things that bring you joy:
Not everything on your calendar needs to be productive.
Play, creativity, music, movement, nature, connection, these things matter too.
Joy is not something you have to earn.

💛 4. Talk to yourself like someone you love:
If your friend told you they were exhausted and overwhelmed, would you tell them they weren’t doing enough? Probably not.
Try offering yourself that same compassion.

Burnout recovery isn’t always about doing more.

Sometimes it’s about thinking differently, slowing down, asking for support, and making room for what actually restores you.

✹ Which one are you going to try first? Tell me in the comments.

📌 Save this for the next time you catch yourself saying, “I just need to push through.”

08/13/2026

Burnout rarely starts with “I can’t do this anymore.”
Sometimes it starts with, “I’m fine. I just need to get through this week.”

Then the weeks keep coming. đŸ«

You’re tired but keep pushing.
Small things feel HUGE.
You’re more irritable than usual.
Rest doesn’t seem to recharge you.
You start avoiding people, putting things off, or losing interest in the things that usually make you feel like yourself.

đŸš© These aren’t character flaws. They can be signs that your mind and body have been running on empty for too long.

From a CBT perspective, burnout can show up in the cycle between our thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and behaviors. When one area gets overwhelmed, the others often follow.

And here’s the reminder I want you to take with you:

You don’t have to wait until you completely crash to start taking care of yourself. đŸŒ±

Prevention matters.

In Part 2, we’ll talk about practical, CBT-based ways to start breaking the burnout cycle and making space for recovery.

✹ Save this as your reminder to check in with yourself: not just your to-do list.

Follow for Part 2. 💛

Some days in this work are lighter than others.

Today wasn’t one of those days.

I witnessed profound grief after the unexpected loss of a coworker. I sat beside someone navigating the heartbreak and uncertainty of divorce. I helped a parent explore the guilt and frustration of feeling so overwhelmed that it’s become difficult to be fully present with their children.

People sometimes think therapy is “just listening.”

In reality, it’s creating a space where people can say the things they’ve never felt safe saying out loud. It’s helping them untangle overwhelming emotions, discover patterns, build new skills, and find hope when life feels incredibly heavy.

It is an honor to be trusted with these stories. I never take that responsibility lightly.

To every therapist carrying pieces of other people’s pain today: I see you.

And to every client who chooses to show up, even when it’s hard: your courage doesn’t go unnoticed. đŸŒ±

07/22/2026

Your mind and body were never meant to stay in “go mode” all day.

Sometimes the most supportive thing you can do isn’t another productivity hack.

It’s stepping outside, moving your body, and giving your nervous system a moment to breathe. đŸ§˜đŸœâ€â™€ïž

Small moments of care matter more than we often realize.

What’s your favorite place to go for a walk when you need a reset? đŸŒ±

Some of my favorite moments in therapy happen when a client says...

“That’s exactly what it feels like.”

That’s the power of a good metaphor.

Sometimes it’s easier to describe trauma as a smoke alarm that won’t stop beeping than to explain what hypervigilance feels like.

Sometimes healing feels less like “getting better” and more like renovating a house while you’re still living in it, messy, uncomfortable, and happening one room at a time.

Metaphors don’t minimize our experiences. They give us language for experiences that often feel impossible to explain.

Whether you’re carrying anxiety, grief, trauma, or simply navigating a difficult season, I hope one of these metaphors helped you feel a little more understood today.

đŸŒ± Which one resonated with you the most?
Or share a metaphor that’s helped you make sense of your own journey.

If you’re looking for a space where your experiences don’t have to be perfectly explained to be understood, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

Not every new chapter feels exciting right away and that’s okay.

Adjusting to something new takes time. There’s no deadline for feeling comfortable, confident, or certain about what’s next.

Give yourself permission to move at a pace that feels manageable. Progress isn’t measured by how quickly you adapt; it’s built through the small choices you make each day to keep showing up for yourself.

Wherever you are in your journey, remember that it’s okay to honor both the excitement and the uncertainty that can exist at the same time. 🌿
