Today marks the spring equinox — a moment of balance between Yin and Yang 🌱
From this point forward, Yang energy begins to rise, supporting movement, circulation, and growth.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, spring is associated with the Liver system.
The Liver is responsible for the smooth flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body and plays a key role in:
• Digestion
• Hormonal balance
• Emotional regulation
• Stress response
When Liver Qi flows smoothly, we feel lighter, clearer, and more balanced.
When it becomes stagnant, it can show up as bloating, tension, headaches, PMS, or irritability.
🌿 Foods that support the Liver in spring include:
• Leafy greens and young vegetables
• Lightly cooked seasonal vegetables
• Fresh herbs like parsley, cilantro, and mint
• Sour flavors in moderation (lemon, lime, apple cider vinegar)
⚠️ Foods to go easy on this season:
• Heavy, greasy foods
• Excess sugar
• Overeating late at night
These can slow digestion and contribute to stagnation during a time meant for movement and renewal.
Spring nourishment is about balance — supporting rising Yang without depleting Yin, and encouraging flow without forcing change.
Food is one of the simplest ways to align with the season.
