Trauma
There has been a very noticeable uptick in the volume of patients seeking care after traumatic injuries, most notably orthopedic injuries suffered during activities, falls, and motor vehicle and boating accidents.

Strep
While not a trending condition, there have been several pediatric patients treated for strep throat, which is unseasonable for this time of year.

THIS WEEK, Dr. Anthony Joslin, a McLaren emergency physician, reports:

Smoke-related
There has been a noticeable, though slight, increase of patients seeking care for complications of chronic lung condition, such as COPD, as a result of the poor air quality.

GI
There has been a slight uptick in patients seeking care for gastrointestinal distress.

Injuries
Summer activities continue to send patients to the emergency and trauma center with minor orthopedic and soft-tissue injuries.
