Today is ! The MACS for MOMs team has published a new fact sheet on "Postpartum Pain Management for Patients With Substance Use Disorders."

Postpartum pain is well documented to be undertreated in people with SUDs, and concerns about relapse, overdose and stigma can further complicate pain management decisions. The fact sheet covers key clinical considerations to help providers navigate these challenges, from continuing medications for opioid use disorder during hospitalization to overdose prevention and follow-up planning.

Access the full fact sheet: https://bit.ly/MOMsPostpartumPainManagement.

Schedule a consultation or register for a training with the MACS for MOMs team of addiction medicine specialists by visiting www.macsformoms.org, emailing [email protected] or calling 1-855-337-MACS (6227).

As American Pharmacists Month continues, we’re honoring the contributions of pharmacists to patient health and safety. As MACS Consultant Bethany DiPaula, PharmD, puts it: pharmacists are often the most accessible point of care for people navigating addiction, and that access can change the course of someone's recovery.

At MACS, pharmacists are an integral part of our interdisciplinary team of addiction medicine specialists. They work directly with providers to answer clinical questions about evidence-based dosing, harm reduction tools and a range of patient-related concerns. This month, we celebrate the pharmacy professionals who show up every day for patients living with substance use disorders and chronic pain.

All healthcare providers can schedule an individualized consultation or register for an upcoming training with the MACS team of addiction medicine specialists by calling 1-855-337-MACS (6227), emailing [email protected] or visiting www.marylandmacs.org.
