Dear Patients,
I have made the very difficult decision of closing my practice through at least March 31 and potentially longer. I have a deep commitment to each of you, so this weighs heavily on me. I made the decision for 4 main reasons:
-As a complementary care provider, I have great respect for the role of Western medicine, and am committed to “flattening the curve” of novel coronavirus transmission so that I do not unknowingly contribute to overwhelming our hospitals.
-Now that it appears we have reached community transmission in the U.S. and people can be contagious before symptoms develop, asking patients not to come in if they have traveled or if they feel sick or refraining from coming in if I feel sick may not be enough to prevent the spread of this virus.
-The DC Health Dept. recommended today that non-urgent healthcare appointments be rescheduled. While this was mainly around preserving healthcare resources, reducing transmission was also a stated goal.
-I am particularly concerned about any of us inadvertently spreading it to anyone at high risk, especially during this critical stage with our healthcare system.
May you be well,
Wendy
