It took me too long to understand this.

Comment MORE for a free doc to help you understand this more deeply through modern science and practices.

I hope it helps you.

Every sensation you ignore is a message deferred — not deleted.

Tension held becomes tension stored.

Stored becomes structural.

Structural becomes the story you tell your doctor in ten years, starting with “I don’t know when this started.”

Breath is how you get quiet enough to hear the first draft — while it’s still just information, not yet injury.

This is the work: not to fix the body, but to finally listen to it.

There is so much going on that most are unaware of and take for granted. You CAN become more aware and in constant awe of the details.

It’s a path and it must be experienced to understand.

The pose was never the point.

The point was something much more and can only be experienced in practice.

A delicate attention to detail can improve your meditation and breath awareness.

Microcosmic Orbit — one of the foundational practices in Taoist internal work.

Here’s the idea: you have two main channels running through your body. The Governing Vessel runs up your spine — from your perineum, up through the tailbone, up the spine, over the crown, down to the roof of your mouth.

The Conception Vessel runs down the front — from your tongue, down through your throat, chest, navel, back to the perineum.

Normally these two channels are only connected at two points. So we close the loop — tongue touches the roof of the mouth, right behind your front teeth. That bridges the circuit.

Now we breathe. Settle your attention into your lower dantian, about two inches below your navel. As you inhale, draw your attention up the spine — tailbone, mid-back, base of the skull, crown. As you exhale, let it flow back down the front — crown, throat, heart, navel, home.

That’s the orbit. One continuous loop, breath and attention moving together like a wheel turning.

Two things to remember: this is guided, not forced — you’re not pushing energy, you’re following a path with your awareness. And don’t chase big sensations. Consistency is what builds the circuit, not intensity.

Touch, pressure, heat, and cold travel fast.

Whichever one arrives first at the gate wins — and everything else gets crowded out before it even reaches your conscious mind.

This isn’t a mindset hack.
It’s wiring.

The Gate Control Theory of Pain explains why deliberate breath, a Shakti Mat, a cold plunge, or a 105-degree room can quiet what your body is carrying — not by overriding it with willpower, but by literally out-competing it at the spinal cord.

You’re not enduring these practices.

You’re training which signal gets to speak first.

Never underestimate the power of alignment, and marrying someone you can say anything to (there IS a balance).

When we are not aligned it creates “kinks in the hose” of your nervous system.

Alignment isn’t about perfection.

It’s about flow.

Think of your nervous system like a hose. When you’re misaligned — physically, mentally, energetically — you create kinks. Signals get blocked. Energy backs up. What should flow freely gets stuck.

Yoga is how we find the kinks and work them loose.

It starts in Tadasana — Mountain Pose. (Gunslinger)

The pose that looks like doing nothing, but is actually doing everything.

Feet rooted, spine stacked, crown reaching up.

It’s not a resting pose, it’s a calibration.

A pose like Warrior is where alignment becomes something you can feel in your bones — because Warrior isn’t just a stretch, it’s a stance. Front knee tracking over the ankle, back leg strong, chest open, gaze fixed forward.

You’re not just holding a shape.

You’re rehearsing how to meet life: grounded, assertive, unafraid to take up space.

That’s the real teaching. Alignment on the mat becomes alignment off it.

When the hose is clear, you don’t just feel less pain — you have access to your full power again.

Geaux to class.
