CareSouth CareSouth is a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides comprehensive healthcare services. CareSouth is accredited by the Joint Commission.

CareSouth is a private non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center that provides a comprehensive range of community-based medical, dental and behavioral health services. CareSouth originally launched in 1997 as Capitol City Family Health Center (CCFHC), which it operated under until changing its name in April, 2016 to be more inclusive of the communities we serve. Our health center is guided by a

consumer-majority volunteer board of directors whose mission is to provide comprehensive, high quality health care with compassion and respect for all. Our experienced team provides a broad range of medical and dental services at our main location in Baton Rouge and in satellite clinics located in Donaldsonville and Plaquemine, Louisiana. CareSouth also provides onsite primary care, behavioral and oral health services at two charter schools. CareSouth is recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a Patient-Centered Medical Home and by the Joint Commission as a Primary Care Medical Home.

CareSouth was honored to welcome Mrs. Erin Tawney, Regional Director for the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, during her final stop in Baton Rouge yesterday.

Mrs. Tawney met with our Executive Staff and Board of Directors, along with Louisiana Primary Care Association Executive Director Gerrelda Davis and Executive Assistant Anne Williams. Following the meeting, we had the pleasure of giving her a tour of our new Geriatric Clinic at Lotus Village.

We are grateful for Mrs. Tawney’s visit and the opportunity to highlight CareSouth’s continued commitment to providing quality, accessible healthcare to the communities we serve. It was a wonderful way to celebrate National Health Center Week 2026!

As part of National Health Center Week 2026, CareSouth proudly partnered with communities across Louisiana to support students and families as they prepared for a successful school year.

Through participation in 15+ Back-to-School events across Baton Rouge, Plaquemine, Donaldsonville, Shreveport, and Ascension, our team distributed school supplies, shared valuable health resources, and connected families with quality, affordable healthcare services.
