In the throes of labour, tears may flow,
As pain and exhaustion take their toll,
But within you lies a strength so true,
A warrior spirit that will see you through.
Amidst the cries and the screams so raw,
You'll find a voice, a rhythm, a draw,
And as your body works to bring new life,
You'll tap into a force so rife.
You'll breathe and push and bear it all,
And in those moments, you'll stand tall,
For you are a mother, a fierce one at that,
And you'll rise to the challenge, never falling flat.
So cry if you must; let the tears fall,
For in this moment, you'll conquer it all,
And as you hold your baby in your arms,
You'll know that you've weathered the storm.
