Join the Midcoast community for a vigil for Kohen Kartier Wiley, a 1-year-old black baby murdered by Senatobia, Mississippi police.

The vigil will be held in Belfast, Maine on the corner of Main Street and High Street starting at 7:30pm on Sunday June 21st. There will be a standout with signs then a silent walk to the Belfast Boat House where mourners will sing songs, light candles and release nature rafts.

Bring signs and musical instruments. Join our community in mourning Kohen Wiley and demanding the abolition of police and their centuries long violence against black people on Turtle Island.

The original post was taken down to honor the wishes of Vellisiya Wiley, Kohen’s mother, who has requested that people stop sharing photos of her baby.

Community event will be featured on WERU’s Around Town with Amy Browne tomorrow at 8am.

Healthcare Workers for Palestine - Maine is handing out the No Pride in GEN0CIDE fliers at local pride celebrations and continuing to educate people on the harms of Teva Pharmaceuticals and how they contribute to violence and medical apartheid against Palestinians.

When going to your local pride event, don’t forget to go to the website boycottteva.org and scroll down to the materials sections where you can find the full color and black and white versions of the Pride Flyer (https://boycottteva.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Pride-Trifold-Color.pdf)

The website has many great materials for tabling and flyering in your local community and ways to get more involved in the Boycott Teva Campaign.

And we also want to remind you that voting is not harm reduction. Voting is important, but actually doing the work on the ground makes a much bigger difference. Voting is just a baby step towards building a system that is grounded in justice. Get out there and help build mutual aid networks in your community. Put your body and your freedom on the line to protect your community members, to stop weapons from being shipped overseas to commit GEN0CIDE, to protect the land from profiteers who would sooner see the world burn than lose a dollar.

This is your call to use your body and everything you have to make a difference. Go vote today and then commit to getting out in the streets and being the change you want to see.

The targeting of healthcare workers by the Israeli Occupation Forces is part of a long practice of colonization and genocide. When healthcare workers around the world called for our institutions to speak out against this targeting of our colleagues, it was with the foresight that allowing human rights violations to go un-punished emboldens others to do the same.

Now we see this same tactic being used by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the United States. But this is not a new tactic on this land either. The U.S. government is an occupying force and is increasing a centuries-old policy of enslavement and genocide on this land.

This ongoing violence can only be defeated if we recognize these connections and fight against these systems of oppression. There is no voting out genocide and enslavement in a government founded on those practices. The two party plantation must be eliminated if we want to make space for a better world.
