It’s all about the details! This 60-year-old patient was bothered by facial aging signs and wanted a more refined and feminine nose. She is now 3 weeks out from facial rejuvenation surgery which included a deep plane face and neck lift, endoscopic brow lift, lower blepharoplasty, fat grafting, and buccal fat pad contouring. We then performed a rhinoplasty and she is just 9 days out from nose surgery and just got her cast off.

She is of course still swollen and early in the healing process, but you can already see how much more youthful she looks in every portion of her face. Her eyes look more open (even though we didn’t take any upper eyelid skin) which is all from repositioning her brows. Her jowls are gone and her neck definition has been restored. Her nose has a feminine side profile and will show more definition as she heals! You can see she still has some bruising under her eyes from the rhinoplasty and a bit of bruising still at her neck from the neck lift. This is often the stage where the incisions look most pink and will fade into very faint lines and be difficult to see in a few months.

She still has a lot of healing to go but I appreciate her letting me share her photos!

This 45 year old patient was bothered by poor definition and fullness under her chin as well as some mild skin laxity.

She wanted to avoid the incisions around her ears that would have been necessary for a full face and neck lift.

We instead opted for a central neck lift - this is a procedure done with just an incision under the chin. The deep neck fat and glands (if necessary) are sculpted, the neck muscle is tightened, and conservative liposuction is performed. We also paired her central neck lift with renuvion, which is a minimally invasive skin tightening treatment for the neck.

A central neck lift has limitations - it does not lift the cheeks, lower face, or jowls, so it is typically reserved for younger patients with good skin quality. Jowling was not a concern for this patient, and she is very happy with the improved neck definition that she has at 3 months.

She has some faint subtle neck skin discoloration where she had some bruising in her neck - this can occasionally occur with any neck procedure and will slowly resolve with time.

The small faint scar near her ear was from a prior unrelated procedure. Her only incision from the central lift with renuvion was under her chin.

This 53 year old patient felt like she didn’t recognize the tired-looking person she saw in the mirror. She was most bothered by jowling, decreased neck definition, and heaviness to her upper lids.

She is 3 months out from a deep plane facelift to lift the jowls and restore her cheek volume and structure. As part of her deep neck lift I sculpted all layers of her neck including deep neck fat and her descended salivary glands. You can see in the after photos that she has nice sharp jawline definition going all the way to the angle of her jaw.

I performed an endoscopic brow lift to soften her upper face and lift the heaviness off her eyelids. I didn’t remove any eyelid skin so all of the improvements you see to her upper eyelids are from the brow lift. A well done brow lift relieves eyebrow tension and crowding on the upper lids without giving somebody a surprised appearance. I think brow lifts are one of the most underrated facial rejuvenation procedures, partly because they take a lot of expertise to get right. When they are performed correctly and artistically, they can make subtle but powerful improvements and softening to the upper face. A brow lift also help lift the temple skin which prevents bunching that might arise from lifting the cheek during the facelift and allows me to shorten my facelift incisions from needing to extend too high into the temple. Most patients come in thinking they need an upper bleph but a large percentage of them are actually better candidates for a brow lift (or a brow lift AND an upper blepharoplasty)

She is ecstatic about her results and I am grateful she let me share her photos!

This patient in her late 70s felt like her outward appearance didn’t match the vibrance that she felt on the inside. She is now 13 days out from a deep plane facelift, deep neck lift, brow lift, and lower eyelid blepharoplasty with fat grafting.

In her preop photos you can see how her low brow position makes her face look concentrated and intense. After the brow lift her upper face looks softer and more friendly. I didn’t remove any upper lid skin so all of the improvements in the upper lid heaviness are from alleviating the crowding from her brow skin.

You can see at 13 days she still has some swelling and bruising under the eyes and at the neck, which are the areas that tend to swell and bruise the most after surgery. However typically the end of the 2 week mark is about the time most people feel a lot more comfortable being in public and returning to most normal activities (especially with a bit of makeup or tinted sunscreen).

I look forward to seeing her back once she is all healed up and I appreciate her letting me share her photos!

This gentleman in his late 50s disliked the way his lower eyelids made him look tired despite a good nights rest. He also felt like his nose had gotten larger and more bulbous as he aged. He wanted to keep his results looking natural while also making meaningful differences.

For his lower eyelids we removed his eye bags (lower blepharoplasty) and did some fat grafting to soften the under eye hollowness. His case was actually quite complex as his lower eyelids had become very weak and droopy with time, which causes the lower lid to take a rounded shape and show too much of white of the eye underneath the iris (colored portion of eye). He has a lot of loose skin at his lower lids but if we removed too much of that skin he would have been high risk to have the eyelid get even droopier. To support his lower lids, I performed a lower eyelid tightening procedure (canthoplasty). You can see after surgery his lower lid is in a good position and you don’t see the white under the iris anymore.

His nose had become larger due to early changes of a condition called rhinophyma, where the oil glands, pores, and skin of the nose become overactive and thicken with time. I used two rounds of an intense C02 laser to shrink the pores and help subtly refine his nose by improving the skin.

He is 3.5 months out from surgery and very happy with his results!

Many people wonder what they will look like after a facelift. This patient in her late 40s is shown one day after an extended deep plane facelift and neck lift. You can see the incision lines around the ear and typical bruising pattern mostly along jawline and neck. Everybody heals differently and some patients may be more or less bruised or swollen. Typically the first night is the most challenging as it can be hard to get a good nights rest after sleeping during surgery and the compression wrap applied after surgery can be a little tight. Typically patients get a much better nights sleep the second day and pain overall is very manageable. Most patients say the most pesky parts of healing are trying to be patient for the bruising and swelling to come down not the discomfort.
