Belpre Safetytown

Belpre Safetytown Belpre Safetytown offers a comprehensive program of safety training for area children in the MOV. At the heart of the program is the curriculum.

A professionally sound educational experience is used to give each child an opportunity to learn through participation, demonstration, and practice. Children learn from professional licensed teachers and well-trained instructors. The Belpre Safetytown program is two-fold. First, in a classroom setting, different safety rules are introduced daily along with guest speakers who help explain and enfor

ce the daily safety rules. Field trips to local safety partners are also utilized to give every student a real-life experience. Safety around the home is most important so children are taught to identify and avoid dangerous objects such as electrical appliances and chemicals with special emphasis on the dangers in and out of the medicine cabinet. Safety around pets and other animals will be covered. Each child will learn that he/she has many safety friends. Police officers, firefighters, bus drivers, doctors, Coast Guard officials, and representatives from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will interact with the children on a one to one basis. The children will learn why some of these people wear uniforms and about the equipment, they use to help keep us safe. Next, a miniature town complete with streets, sidewalks, buildings, and traffic devices make for a life-like area where the children can practice what they are taught each day. Each child will learn to identify and obey traffic safety devices. Safe automobile and passenger behavior will be demonstrated and practiced by each child. Through craft sessions, classroom work, role-play, and field trips, Belpre Safetytown students are much better prepared to meet and deal with the safety decisions they will confront on a daily basis.

That’s a wrap on an amazing two weeks of learning, growing, and making safe choices! Today we celebrated the graduation of our Safety Town students as they completed their journey toward becoming safer, smarter, and more confident community members.

Over the past 9 days, our students learned valuable lessons about traffic safety, pedestrian awareness, fire prevention, stranger safety, bicycle safety, emergency preparedness, and so much more. Most importantly, they practiced making good decisions that will help keep themselves and others safe every day.

We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished. Their enthusiasm, participation, and commitment to learning have made this program a tremendous success!

A huge thank you to our instructors, volunteers, community partners, and families for supporting our young learners throughout this experience.

Belpre Safetytown – Day 8 Recap

Today at Belpre Safetytown, our safety rule was β€œStop, Look, and Listen.” Students learned the importance of staying alert around roadways, traffic lights, and railroad crossings. Through discussions and activities, they practiced recognizing traffic signals and understanding how to safely cross streets and railroad tracks.

One of the highlights of the day was our annual Safety Walk. Along with the children from Belpre Elementary School, we walked to Washington Boulevard, paying close attention to the many sounds and sights that help keep us safe in our community. Students practiced using their listening and observation skills while identifying important safety features along the route.

We are incredibly proud of all the progress our Safetytown students have made this week. Tomorrow is our Safetytown Graduation, and we look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of each child. Graduation will begin at 9:15 a.m.

We can’t wait to celebrate with our graduates tomorrow! πŸŽ“πŸš¦πŸš‚πŸ‘Ÿ
