It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ms. Lee Esther McLaurin.🕊️

Ms. Lee Esther was a dedicated member of the Priority One Home Healthcare family, having served with us since 2004. She held a very special place in our story, as she was one of the personal care attendants for our co-founder, Jim Long, Jr.

For nearly two decades, she showed compassion, dedication, and kindness to those she cared for. She will also be remembered for her straightforward spirit and tell-it-like-it-is personality. Her service and the impact she made will always be remembered and appreciated by our Priority One family.

We ask that you please keep Ms. Lee Esther’s family, friends, clients, and all who loved her in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. 🙏

Rest peacefully, Ms. Lee Esther. You will be deeply missed.💚

With profound sorrow we announce the passing of Lee Esther McLaurin who departed this life August 9, 2026 in Laurinburg, NC.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 1pm at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Clio, SC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

A public viewing will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 4pm until 7pm at Bethea Funeral Home.

Please remember the family of Lee Esther McLaurin in your thoughts and prayers.

Priority One was proud to see our Director of Operations, Gage Speight, participate in Scotland Health Care System’s 80th Anniversary celebration.🎉

Speaking in his role as Chairman of the Marlboro Chamber of Commerce, Gage had the honor of welcoming Dr. Milz to Scotland Health’s Marlboro practice and recognizing Scotland Health’s continued commitment to serving our community.👏

We are proud to support the organizations and healthcare professionals working to strengthen care throughout our region. Congratulations to Scotland Health Care System on 80 years of service!💚

Caring for a loved one is one of the most meaningful things you can do, but even the most dedicated family caregivers need time to rest and recharge.

Respite care provides temporary support so caregivers can take care of personal responsibilities, attend appointments, run errands, or simply take a much-needed break while their loved one continues receiving care at home.

At Priority One Home Healthcare, we’re here to support both clients and their families with compassionate in-home care throughout the P*e Dee.

Marlboro Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Alexa Boan and Past Chairman Gage Speight have been in contact with SCDOT to express concerns about the current detour route and the potential impact it could have on businesses throughout Downtown Bennettsville.

The Chamber recommended keeping traffic on the bypass initially, then directing passenger vehicles left onto West Main Street and right onto Broad Street. This would place beach traffic back on its normal route through Downtown Bennettsville while still avoiding the closed bridge.

Based on our conversations with SCDOT, the only issue identified with the proposed route so far is ensuring that semi-trailer trucks continue following the bypass rather than using the proposed detour through Downtown Bennettsville.

We are currently attempting to speak with SCDOT traffic engineers in Florence to discuss possible options and are awaiting a return call.

We appreciate SCDOT’s willingness to review the situation and consider an option that keeps traffic moving safely while continuing to support our local businesses.

This is a reminder that speaking up and advocating for our community can make a difference. The Chamber will continue working on behalf of our local businesses and keeping the community updated as more information becomes available.
