Week 3- Future Superhero Academy

Our Future Superhero Academy campers spent last week exploring the world of Nursing, Rural Health Navigation, and Case Management!

Students rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on experience learning how nurses care for patients by practicing IV skills and CPR. They discovered how quick thinking, compassion, and teamwork can make a difference in an emergency.

Campers also stepped into the role of Rural Health Navigators and Case Managers, learning how healthcare professionals help patients connect with important resources in the community. Through interactive activities, they worked through real-life scenarios to find solutions and support for patients and families.

From saving lives to connecting people with the care they need, our future superheroes learned that healthcare is about much more than medicine—it's about helping people every step of the way. A huge thank you to our Nursing, Rural Health Navigation, and Case Management teams for inspiring the next generation of healthcare heroes!

Future Superhero Academy – Week 2! 🧪💊

Our future healthcare superheroes had an exciting week exploring the world of Pharmacy and Laboratory Services at Benson Hospital!

Students toured both departments and got a behind-the-scenes look at how healthcare professionals work together to care for patients. In the Laboratory, they learned about blood types and even participated in hands-on blood typing activities. In Pharmacy, students practiced filling "prescriptions" using M&M's while learning the importance of medication safety and accuracy.

These hands-on experiences help students discover the many career opportunities available in healthcare while having fun along the way. Thank you to our Pharmacy and Lab teams for inspiring the next generation of healthcare heroes!

Join us for an informative Lunch & Learn this Friday, June 12, with Dr. Jarczyk, Pediatric Pulmonologist, as we explore common breathing and lung health concerns affecting children—from asthma and chronic cough to sleep-related breathing issues and respiratory infections.
Dr. Jarczyk will share practical guidance for parents, caregivers, and community members on recognizing early warning signs, supporting healthy lungs at home, and knowing when specialty care may help.
This is a great opportunity to ask questions, learn prevention tips, and better understand how pediatric pulmonary care supports children’s growth, activity, and overall well-being. Perfect for families, educators, coaches, and anyone interested in children’s health.

Future Superhero Academy Day 1 was a SUPER success! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

We kicked off our biggest Future Superhero Academy yet with an amazing group of future healthcare heroes eager to learn, explore, and have fun!

Today, our students discovered how different hospital departments work together to keep our community healthy:

💪 Physical & Occupational Therapy taught students how nutrition affects a healthy body and the important role movement, exercise, and healthy choices play in overall wellness.

🩻 Imaging gave students a behind-the-scenes look at medical technology, including the opportunity to scan their very own stuffed animals and see what was "inside" their furry friends!

📦 Purchasing & Materials Management challenged students with an exciting scavenger hunt through our supply building, teaching them how essential supplies and equipment make their way to caregivers and patients every day.

We are so excited to spend the rest of the summer inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals and community leaders. Thank you to our incredible staff and volunteers who make this program possible and our wonderful sponsor the Legacy Foundation!
