I was speaking with my lifelong friend who happens to be a School Psychologist in Texas. We all grew up together here in SoCal. I was reminding her that "our" Brother Gary usually takes a vacation from us as his caregivers and spends around 7 to 10 days at Glendale Adventist Hospital. That is where he has been taken care of when he needs his "vacay" for more than 27 years.

They love him and he loves his Doctor who saved him. When he originally needed physically medical care because a very sick person who was in another facility shattered his ankle for his food tray and the closest trauma hospital that also had Psychiatric treatment was Glendale Adventist. We've always know God was alway with Gary from a VERY young age. He was protecting him when he was homeless, in jail, and in different so called "board and cares". We are so thankful that Gary has been amazing and able to be at home for more than 27 years... the only exception is him needing a break from us and I don't blame him.

We haven't check in on this page for a while. Gary is doing very well.

He is part owner of our small business we run out of our home. He helps with everything from finding product to sell, packaging the items and making sure each package is properly delivered to the post office with a receipt and tracking #. A year ago Gary had no itea how the mail system actually worked.

Having a purpose in life helps Gary so much and I am beyond proud of his hard work and dedication.

He never says No (in a blizzard, 8° temps or something more exciting to do he's reliable. He is a YES man no matter what needs to be done. I am so proud of you Brother (my bff). We know it's not a construction job as you would prefer but you are definitely helping Mom and I with whatever we need done. You also know the danger of construction and Dude, you're a month away from being 50.

Thank you my Brother / Partner / Best Friend. We appreciate you!

Why would anyone prefer to have a horrible physical disease over a mental illness? As hard as it is to fathom, there are many reasons why psychiatric disorders are even worse than cancer. Here are 5 reasons why.

Thankfully the stigma is slowly fading...

Millions of Americans struggle with mental health issues. Thankfully, the last several years have seen the stigma associated with mental health problems slowly fade away.
