Pain is a terrible GPS.

Just because your elbow hurts doesn’t mean your elbow is the only problem.

Golf is a full-body sport. The force generated during a swing travels through the feet, hips, spine, shoulders, and arms. When one area isn’t moving well, another area often has to pick up the slack.

That’s one reason golfer’s elbow can be so frustrating. The pain shows up at the elbow, but the factors contributing to it may involve much more than that.

Treating the symptom is one thing. Understanding why it’s happening is another.

If elbow pain is keeping you off the course, let’s take a closer look.

Healthcare isn't like a DNA test that comes back 99.99% certain.

Every patient is different. Your injury, health history, lifestyle, goals, and response to treatment are unique to you. That's why ethical providers should be careful about making promises they can't actually keep.

That doesn't mean we guess.

It means we focus on giving you our best assessment, using the best available evidence, and creating a plan that's appropriate for your situation. We'll tell you what we think, what we know, what we don't know, and what outcomes are realistic.

If someone promises they'll fix every problem, cure every condition, or guarantee your results, that's a red flag.

Every Spring/Summer, there is an increase in back pain from suddenly jumping into activity after sitting dormant all Winter.

One of the biggest misconceptions about pain is this:

If something hurts, we assume we must be damaging ourselves.

But pain and harm are not always the same thing.
Especially in chronic pain, the nervous system can become more sensitive over time. Everyday movements like bending, walking, sitting, or exercising can start to feel threatening, even when the body itself is not being injured.

That pain is still real, but it doesn’t automatically mean your body is fragile or broken. This distinction matters because fear of movement often makes the cycle worse.

The goal is not ignoring pain. It’s understanding it better so we can rebuild confidence in movement safely and gradually.

Your body is constantly adapting to the things you repeatedly do, whether that’s movement, exercise, stress, long hours sitting at a desk, or not moving much at all.

That’s why the small things you do consistently usually matter more than the occasional workout or stretching session.

The good news is that adaptation works both ways.
Bodies can become stronger, more resilient, and more tolerant to movement over time.

Most people don’t need to avoid activity altogether, they need to gradually rebuild their ability to handle it.

“Tight” doesn’t always mean the problem.

A lot of the time, the muscles that feel tight are actually working overtime, trying to make up for something else that isn’t doing its job.

So while stretching might feel good in the moment, it doesn’t always solve the root issue.

In many cases, the better approach is:
• improving strength
• restoring balance
• helping your body move more efficiently.

For most back pain, clinical guidelines recommend starting with non-drug care first.

Why?

Because opioid use is associated with:• higher risk of long-term use• no better long-term outcomes• increased healthcare costs

Starting with conservative care has been linked to:• lower opioid use• fewer unnecessary interventions

Start with conservative care first.
