Update on Trace! 🧔

Trace is home and doing well. Today really knocked the wind out of him.

He has been going through these treatments for so long now, and with nightly chemo since 2023, his body is just tired. He has been asked to endure more than anyone his age should ever have to, and yet he continues to amaze us with his strength.

He is so strong and, as Trace will tell you, ā€œI’m fine.ā€ 🧔

Thank you to everyone who prayed for him, checked on him, sent texts, and kept our boy in your thoughts. We are so incredibly thankful for the love and support that surrounds him.

Now, April really can’t come fast enough! šŸ””šŸ§”

One day closer to that bell. One treatment closer. One day at a time.

Update on Trace! 🧔

Trace heads back to Arthur M. Blank Hospital tomorrow for another long day of treatment. He will have additional chemotherapy and an IVIG infusion.

After coming home today and finding my boy not feeling well, I’m really hoping he hasn’t picked up anything. Of course, that’s always a worry for us, especially with everything his body is already fighting.

But despite not feeling his best today, Trace is ready to go! šŸ’ŖšŸ¼šŸ§”

We would appreciate some extra prayers tonight that whatever is going on passes quickly, that his body is strong enough for tomorrow’s treatment, and that everything goes smoothly.

242 days until Trace rings the bell! šŸ””šŸ§”

One day at a time, one treatment at a time. We are getting closer and closer.

Thank you for continuing to love, pray for, and support our boy and our family. It means more than we can ever say.

Update on Trace! 🧔

Trace is home and resting after a long day yesterday. He did great, and his oncologist was very surprised by how wonderful he looks! Hearing those words is always such an encouragement, and we are so thankful.

Thank you to everyone who called, texted, and checked on our sweet boy. Your prayers, love, and support continue to carry us through this journey, and we are so grateful for each of you.

One of the highlights of our trip was getting to spend time with Deklin and his family. A big thank you to them for stopping in for a visit!

While we were away, another incredible blessing was taking place at home.

A very special friend contacted Dave and said, ā€œI want to help.ā€ She knew I would never ask, but she also knew that organizing and deep cleaning our home was something I had wanted to do for a long time. Life has simply gotten in the way.

She and her daughter came to our house and spent all day and evening cleaning and organizing. And when I say organizing, I mean organizing! They poured so much love into our home, expecting nothing in return.

When I walked through the door, I was overwhelmed! The amount of stress they lifted from my shoulders is something I could never repay. They gave me so much more than a clean house. They gave me peace of mind, time, and one less thing to worry about. Gina and Bella, thank you so much! We love you guys BIG!

This journey has shown us, time and time again, just how blessed we are. Whether it’s through prayers, encouraging texts, visits with friends, or acts of service like this, God continues to surround our family with the most amazing people.

Update on Trace! 🧔

We will be heading down to Atlanta tomorrow afternoon for another appointment.

This trip will be a little shorter than some of our others. Trace will receive chemotherapy through his port and an IVIG infusion. Thankfully, there isn’t anything exciting to report and we couldn’t be more grateful for that! He has been doing so great lately, though he has had some recent fatigue and hasn’t been feeling well, so we’re thankful to get down there and have an IVIG infusion. We are praising God for every good day.

This will likely be the last time I’ll be taking him down until December. 😩 School starts back very soon, and I can’t wait to be back in the classroom with my students. I know Trace will be in great hands with his dad, and I’m thankful they’ll get to spend that special time together.

If you wouldn’t mind saying a prayer that everything goes smoothly over the next couple of days, we would really appreciate it.

271 days until Trace rings the bell on April 10, 2027! šŸ””šŸ§” One day, and one treatment, closer.

Thank you all for continuing to pray for, love, and encourage our family. Your support means more than you’ll ever know.

Update on Trace! 🧔

Thank you for the prayers, texts, and love that continue to surround our family. We were able to leave Atlanta late yesterday afternoon and make it home safely.

Trace is doing well and resting. The next few days are usually the hardest, but he is incredibly strong.

Yesterday, Trace was diagnosed with CVID (Common Variable Immunodeficiency), a disorder that affects the immune system and makes it difficult for the body to produce enough antibodies to fight infections.

It appears that chemotherapy is likely the cause of this condition. To be honest, without that treatment, he would not be with us today. While this wasn’t the news we were hoping for, we are grateful to finally have answers.

Based on this diagnosis, it appears he will likely need weekly IVIG treatments indefinitely to help support his immune system. We are staying hopeful and trusting that everything will be okay, and we are thankful to have a clear treatment plan moving forward.

The good news is that with consistent treatment and care, Trace should be able to live a full, active life. For that, we are incredibly thankful.

This journey continues to remind us that the path forward doesn’t always look the way we expected, but we trust God and keep taking it one step at a time.

And don’t worry, I fully intend to keep reminding him about those treatments for the rest of his life. 🤪

Thank you for continuing to pray for, encourage, and support our family. We are so grateful for each and every one of you.

Update on Trace! 🧔

We will be heading down tomorrow afternoon through Thursday for a couple of long days for our boy.

Trace has been doing so great lately, and we are incredibly thankful for that! As he continues this journey, he is now 929 days into treatment since his diagnosis on November 28, 2023. What a testament to his strength, courage, and determination.

This trip will include an oncology appointment, a hematology appointment, his 22nd spinal tap with chemo into his spine, additional chemo through his port, and an IVIG treatment.

The best part? After this spinal tap, he will have only 3 more spinal taps to go! 🧔

As we head out, we would appreciate your prayers for Trace and for everything to go smoothly. Please also keep Jordan and Dave in your thoughts. They always have a hard time watching us head out the door and not being able to come along.

Thank you for continuing to pray for, love, and support our family. We are so grateful for every message, prayer, and act of kindness along the way.

Update on Trace!

Trace and Dave just rolled into the driveway after a long day of treatment at Arthur Blank. Thankfully, his appointment went amazing!

I was on the call during the appointment because this momma can’t let him go without me, even though he absolutely loves his trips with his dad. 😊 His doctor confirmed just how great he looks, and hearing those words means everything.

He will return next month for #22 of his spinal taps with chemo into his spine ( #21 was successful, with only one unsuccessful attempt along the way).

Only 1 of 4 spinal taps left to go after next month!! 🧔

Additional nightly and monthly treatments will continue, but today gave us so much to be thankful for.

One thing that made today extra special was seeing Spencer, one of the two men who spent so much time caring for Trace when he was first diagnosed and hospitalized. We are so incredibly thankful for him. Spencer and Trace share the same love for music and concerts, and seeing that connection through all of this means so much.

Honestly, every single person who has been part of Trace’s journey since the beginning holds a special place in our hearts. We may not always have the same nurses on the Aflac wing, but somehow so many of them still stop by just to see Trace when they notice his name on the chart. That kind of love and compassion melts a momma’s heart more than words can explain.

325 days until Trace rings the bell on April 10, 2027! One day closer.

Thank you all for continuing to pray for, love, and support our family. It means more than we can ever say.

Update on Trace!

In just 2 days, Trace went through 5 hours of driving, 16 hours of treatment, his 20th spinal tap with chemo into his spine, IVIG, and a neurology appointment. To say his body is exhausted is an understatement.

Trace is home now and resting. His nightly chemo has been increased, but everything went as good as it possibly could have. We are so thankful for that. 🧔

We will head back on April 29th for additional treatment.

366 days until Trace rings the bell! šŸ”” One day closer.

Trace has been doing really good lately! Thank you, Jesus! 🧔

We head down tomorrow evening for a couple of days. Trace has a neurology appointment and chemotherapy scheduled. He will also be having his 20th spinal tap with chemo into his spine, along with an IVIG treatment. These are big appointments, and not ones he’s looking forward to!

Only 369 days until Trace rings the šŸ””! One day at a time, getting closer and closer.

We are praying everything goes smoothly and that his body handles everything well.
