🚨 A Huge Thank You to Our Local Law Enforcement 🚨
Last night, someone stole our beloved Mali-Bus—the bus we use every day to transport residents to recovery meetings, church services, job interviews, food pantry, grocery stores, community events, and other activities that support their recovery journey.
Within FIVE MINUTES of reporting it stolen, the Bloomington Police Department had already located the bus in the Walmart parking lot. Thanks to their quick response, what could have been a major setback for our residents turned into a success story.
Even more impressive, with the help of the security cameras installed on the Mali-Bus and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, we were able to identify the individual responsible. Ironically, he was allegedly shoplifting from Walmart while driving a bus covered in the words "Recovery, Hope, and Service."
We are incredibly grateful to both the Bloomington Police Department and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office for their professionalism, urgency, and dedication to keeping our community safe. Because of their efforts, the Mali-Bus is back where it belongs—serving people who are working hard to rebuild their lives.
While we're thankful for the swift resolution, our hearts are still with the individual involved. Addiction, poor decision-making, and desperation can lead people down difficult paths. We hope this serves as a wake-up call and an opportunity for him to receive the help and support he needs before things become even more serious.
Please join us in thanking our local law enforcement officers. We appreciate everything you do for Bloomington, Monroe County, and organizations like Malibu House.
💙 Thank you, BPD.
💙 Thank you, Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
💙 The Mali-Bus rolls on.
