“When you are struggling with dizziness or imbalance it’s easy to become demoralized and feel like you’ll never feel ‘normal’ again. Recovery can be a long road, and just thinking of taking one more step might feel like climbing a mountain - impossible.”

But by taking steps together, we build resilience and bring hope. 🤍

It doesn’t matter whether it’s a step toward your kitchen, to the mailbox, at the park, running a mile, or a figurative step - anything counts as a step forward!

✨WHY YOU’RE DIZZY WEDNESDAY: Vestibular Migraine✨

Vestibular migraine is one of the most common causes of recurrent dizziness — and many people don’t realize you can have it even without a severe headache.

Symptoms can look like:
• Vertigo
• Feeling off balance or “floaty”
• Motion sickness sensitivity
• Visual dizziness
• Brain fog or nausea

Because symptoms can come and go, people are often told “everything looks normal” while still struggling day to day.

Vestibular rehab can help improve motion tolerance, balance, and confidence with movement through individualized treatment strategies. 💙

Cervical Proprioception training (CPT) is a type of exercise therapy that aims to enhance joint position awareness and neuromuscular precision in the neck.

This CPT drill trains the deep neck sensors to improve head positioning, reduce dizziness, and sharpen stability.
Laser + maze = real-time feedback for better control.

These exercises are good for treating conditions such as:

➡️ cervicogenic dizziness/headache
➡️ post concussion rehab
➡️ cervical instability
➡️ forward head posture correction
➡️ whiplash associated conditions

If daily tasks like reaching, turning, or walking on uneven ground make you feel off-balance or dizzy—exercises like this can help!

By combining unstable surfaces, dynamic reaching outside the base of support, and gaze stabilization, we build balance that actually translates to real life function (and we have fun doing it!) ⚖️🚶🏽‍♂️🙌🏼

Vestibular rehab in action 👀
This drill layers visual tracking + dynamic balance + cognitive load to challenge the entire system.

▪️ Unstable surface (Rocker board) → somatosensory challenge
▪️ Pendulum tracking → vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) & gaze stability
▪️ Adding numbers → dual-tasking + cognitive integration

Real life doesn’t happen in a quiet, controlled environment—so rehab shouldn’t either.

Ear crystals (BPPV) is a common cause of vertigo but it’s certainly not the only one! Conditions such as vestibular migraine vestibular neuritis (nerve inflammation), Meniere’s (ear fluid build up), or acoustic neuroma/vestibular schwannoma (benign tumor) can cause this environmental-spinning sensation. 😵‍💫

There are other neurological conditions which can cause vertigo as well! This is why it’s very important to seek out a health care provider if you are experiencing vertigo.

Getting the right diagnosis matters because if it’s not BPPV, a crystal repositioning maneuver will not fix the problem.

Working with a trained vestibular therapist is the key to finding the right treatment for you! 🩶

I (Krystal) had the privilege of traveling with last week to El Salvador to be a part of an amazing team to help restore mobility to 54 patients!! This non profit organization sends an entire medical team to perform total joint replacement surgeries to patients who otherwise would not be able to afford the surgery, and who have significantly impaired mobility. This is such an asinine opportunity to serve, and I feel so lucky to have been able to be a part of it for the third year!!

Vision-denied exercises can be a great way to strengthen the equilibrium and balance function of your inner ear!👂

Your brain relies on multiple sensory systems to determine where your body is in space, in order to move and balance appropriately.

After an insult to the vestibular or proprioceptive system (such as BPPV), your brain may naturally lean on your vestibular system for more reliable info.

Over time this reliance can lead to worsening of vertigo or imbalance symptoms!

The great news is - this is something that can be treated! 💪🏼
