Hey guys, it's Dr. Josh. As you may or may not know, I help people off he**in and fentanyl.
To get someone off he**in, we bridge them with a different medication and then slowly wean them off that too.
Same thing happens with food.
We see a craze right now of medication to bridge food addiction, obesity, and diabetes. GLP1 agonists have their place, but I see so many consequences from these medications.
My recommendation?
A nutrition plan that's appropriate for a human. High protein, high fat. No added sugar, no processed food.
Prioritize your protein. Don't fear the fat. Only use GLP1s as a last resort.
I don't want to see the muscle loss, the bone loss, the weakness. You can lose that fat naturally with a human-appropriate diet: lots of animal protein and fat.
I hope that helps.
P.S.
If you or know someone who is struggling with addiction, just know that you will be welcome here and we can help you every step of the way.
