How are you all doing with this heat?
We are fairly used to triple digits this time of year in the Boise area, but it’s still important to remember that too much exposure to extreme heat can, at the least, be very taxing. Avoid problems by staying hydrated and avoiding strenuous activities outside once the temps get closer to and above 90°F.
And remember to balance your water intake with electrolytes. Simply having a little salty snack is enough if you are drinking extra water.
My favorite easy drink for the summer heat is a large glass of room temperature water, a splash of lemonade with real sugar and a pinch of salt. Something about this mixture makes water so appealing and was to drink, especially if you don’t tend to like plain water. The key elements are the real sugar and the salt. Don’t try to get away with artificial sweeteners—you really need that small amount of sugar for this particular thing!
Stay cool, cats! And give me a call if you need anything!
