Holmes County EMS is partnering with the 2nd Alarm Project to invite the public to attend a Mental Health Awareness Class on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 12:30 PM at the Holmes County Ag Center.

We are honored to welcome Retired Battalion Chief Scott Flitcraft as our guest speaker. Chief Flitcraft will share his personal experiences and valuable insights on mental health, resilience, stress management, and the importance of supporting one another.

This class is open to everyone. Whether you are a first responder, healthcare worker, educator, student, or community member, we encourage you to join us for this important conversation.

Together, we can raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote a healthier community.

Exciting progress at the new EMS Station!

The HVAC installation has been completed, and drywall work has officially begun at the new EMS station. These are major milestones that show just how far the project has come.

We are now on the downhill side of construction, and it won’t be much longer before our EMS crews have a new home in Bonifay.

This new facility will provide a modern, functional workspace for our dedicated EMS personnel as they continue serving the citizens and visitors of Holmes County.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and support throughout this project and look forward to sharing more updates as we get closer to completion. 🚑🏥🚧

Today, Sheriff John Tate had the honor of providing lunch for our Holmes County EMS crews during EMS Week as a small token of appreciation for the hard work and dedication they show every single day.

Whether answering emergency calls, providing lifesaving care, or serving our citizens during difficult times, our EMS personnel are always there when they are needed most. Their commitment, professionalism, and compassion do not go unnoticed.

Holmes County EMS recently established the Shay McCormick Memorial Scholarship in honor of Shay McCormick, a devoted paramedic who faithfully served the citizens of Holmes County with compassion, dedication, and professionalism.

The scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a career as an EMT, paramedic, or within the medical field.

This year’s recipient is Bethlehem senior Keira Boswell.

On hand to present the award were Shay’s longtime partner, Andrew Williams, Sheriff John Tate, and Shay’s wife, Terri McCormick.

Congratulations, Keira, and best wishes as you continue your journey toward serving others in the medical profession.
