Be patient and gracious please!
I share this every year, and will most likely share it again.
Car line is stressful for everyone. It is stressful for those who come two hours early to be first in line, those who pull up and wait through the pack of cars, and those who come at the tail end sliding in on two wheels.
It is stressful for those of us keeping the kids in the saferoom quiet so they can hear their names, making sure that the child who we've only met that day is going with the correct person who we may only be seeing for the first time, and doing it efficiently.
Please show grace. We will be doing our best. Car line eases up about 2 weeks in and the line will take generally only 20 minutes to get through.
Ways to help it go more smoothly:
Have your child's name on your dash where we can clearly see it. If you have your car tag from last year, use it. We will give new car riders tags soon.
Be ready to tell the person at the gate AND the person at the corner who you are there for if you do not have a car tag or name on your dash for us to read. If you are new to us, we will ask your name and check to make sure that you are on the list to pick up said child.
If your child needs to be buckled, pull up from the line and park to do so.
When in line, pull up to the next empty spot in front of a teacher. We will have someone take your child to that teacher and load them for you. We load 6 at a time and do not skip spots.
Complete the transportation form tabbed at the top of so we know ahead of time how your child will be going home.
We do not take phone calls after 2:30 to change transportation requests because we cannot guarantee that the message will get to your child in time before they begin getting ready for dismissal. We have 750+ kids in our building. We need your help in this.
We do not take walk ups. You must drive through or wait for your child as a walker. Walkers dismiss after ALL cars have left the car line. After 2:40, the front drive will be blocked for busses to begin entering the front.
Please, please, please complete the transportation form, send a note to the teacher, send an email, or call the school to make sure that we are all aware of how your child is going home. Also, please make sure we have correct contact information so we can reach you if there are any questions.
We appreciate ALL of your help to make this go smoothly.
