Ronnie L. Dorrity

Ronnie L. Dorrity, aged 79, passed away on Thursday June 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born on September 6, 1946, in Lowville, NY, to Marguerite Jordan and Harold J. Dorrity. He graduated in the first graduating class from Lyons Falls to go to South Lewis in 1964. In 1973, Ronnie married Mary L. DeForest. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Gary Michael, Douglas “Bear”, Harold “Hal”; and his cherished wife Mary in 2025.

Ronnie was a dedicated husband to Mary, his loving wife of 52 years, and a devoted father to Nicole and Brittany. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Parker, Keane, Elyse, and Brielle. Ronnie was a hardworking man who built a career at the Lyons Falls Pulp & Paper Mill, working there as a Supervisor until the mill closure in 2001. Ronnie & Mary owned and operated Lyons Falls Liquor for 25 years. In his later years, he was a bus driver for the South Lewis School District, Bernie Bus, and Caboodles Day Care Center.

Ronnie lived a life devoted to his family and community. He loved sports and games - golf, baseball, football, playing cards or casino games, and watching the horses race at the track. Ronnie coached and umpired for Little League baseball for years, and established a Little League softball league for Brittany with coaching help from Nicole. His volunteer service to the community was extensive, and resulted in many of his former players giving thanks for the foundational lessons created through these sports teams. He dedicated time to the community as Village of Lyons Falls Mayor and through his participation on the Village board up until his death.

Ron enjoyed playing golf frequently – daily in his retirement, with his friends, brothers, and nephews. He didn’t always report “shooting his A-game” but he always had “A” good time. He bowled in leagues with friends year after year, coming close to a perfect game a few times. His great sports love was baseball - as a fan, spectator, player, and coach. He was a dedicated Atlanta Braves and Miami Dolphins fan, and could remember any sports statistic. Ronnie rarely missed his daughters’ sports events – always working to improve their skills, teach them new things, or just give them support in their endeavors. He was a lifelong athlete and coach who inspired countless young people to achieve their best on and off the field.

There are so many facets to Ronnie’s life, but the common thread is that he brought joy to all those he came in contact with. He made people laugh, was a loyal friend, committed family man, and an overall kind, loving, man.

He is survived by his devoted brother Dale, Port Leyden, who came by every day for coffee; his brother Terry (Ann), New Hartford; sister-in-law Bertha, Lyons Falls; and daughter Nicole (Thaddeus Miller), California; daughter Brittany (Nicholas Williams), Florida; four grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and countless family, friends and community members that will never forget the impact that Ronnie made on their lives.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday June 18, 2026 at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St., Boonville, NY from 1-3 pm. All are encouraged to wear bright colors as a nod to Ronnie’s “full of life” attitude. A private interment of ashes will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Lyons Falls. If you would like to honor Ronnie, please consider making a donation to a local animal shelter or sports program to continue his impact of kindness and love in the world.

Tara SueB (Case) Wells

Tara SueB (Case) Wells passed away at home on April 13, 2026. It was an

unexpected turn to a long illness.

Tara leaves with us her devoted husband Mark, the much loved Sazzy, and

pretty Monkey as well as their step-daughter Brittany and 2 granddaughters.

Tara is also survived by her mother, Irene, and siblings Nona, Guy, Dean,

along with a nephew and nieces. She was predeceased by her father Charles

and brother Dirk. She also leaves us her good friend, Lori "Crow", as she

was wont to say.

Tara came into this world July 2, 1965 and became the atypical "middle

child". The young family moved here from New Jersey when she was around 6

yrs old. Her parents, Charlie & Irene, built and operated what became a

favorite local watering hole (The Hideaway). You guessed it...this was the

first job on Tara's resume, COOK. All through school, Tara's weekends were

spent by the fryer. Skip over her years at Ethan Allen, and Tara was right

back at it...only this time Tara joined the love of her life, Mark, in

running The World(s) Famous Osceola Hotel.

She loved working side by side with her husband, and she excelled at being

in charge.

[Sidebar here...did you know Tara? She was a force of nature and when was

she not in charge?]

Much as Tara & Mark enjoyed their life, family and friends in NY, New

Smyrna Beach had a greater pull. After flitting back and forth for years,

they made their move official in 2019. Tara always said she was living her

best life there; she loved it so.

How can letters and words do justice to what makes a person? She had so

many facets in an extremely full and fun life. Tara didn't sit, unless it

was in the hot tub. She planted, she garage sale'd, she entertained, she

gardened, she cherished her animals, she visited, and she made her home a

place of warmth. Tara was conscious of having the life that she wanted with

the person that she wanted.

Did you know Tara? Because even this left her with a lot of spare time

so...she went to work for The Lodging Kit Company in NSB. Stay retired?

Pfft, no way. Her manufacturing skill set (remember we skipped over Ethan

Allen) was put to use again. She enjoyed working for the Colonel and

driving to work with the top down. Convertibles were her thing.

Tara was a loving person who took no guff. She chose to be happy in a world

that often isn't.

Dearest Tara....WE LOVE YOU

WE WILL ALWAYS MISS YOU

THANK YOU FOR BEING IN OUR LIVES
