At Cox Branson, our dedication to the well-being of the community goes beyond our front doors. It reaches every corner of the Branson and Tri-Lakes area we are fortunate to serve — including the courageous men and women in local law enforcement who work tirelessly to keep our neighborhoods safe.

This is why we are happy to share that the CoxHealth Public Safety and Security Department has recently donated ten retired body cameras to the Hollister Police Department MO.

Body-worn cameras have become an increasingly vital resource in contemporary policing. They enhance officer safety, ensure accurate documentation of events, and foster the type of transparency that builds trust between law enforcement and the community. When we had the chance to repurpose our retired equipment instead of simply retiring it, the decision was obvious.

We take pride in collaborating with our local first responders and express our appreciation for their continuous dedication to public service.

For 45 years, Babby Nunn has helped keep CoxHealth running behind the scenes, ensuring caregivers have what they need, when they need it. From her early days as a surgical tech to leading a complex, systemwide supply chain transformation, her impact has reached every corner of the organization.

This year, she is one of the recipients of the Lester Awards, a nod to founder Lester E. Cox, honoring employees who go above and beyond to support patients, our organization and the community.

As she reflects on her career, Babby remains focused on what matters most: making a difference for patients and those who care for them.

“I’m very dedicated and loyal to CoxHealth. I’ve raised my family here. I’ve had my children here. I’ve lost my parents here. It’s very important to me and I am so privileged to be part of such a huge project like this where I feel like I’m making a difference. I don’t know that I’ll leave a mark anywhere, but I can promise you it won’t be for lack of effort," says Babby.

Congratulations, Babby, and thank you for your lasting impact.

CoxHealth takes pride in recognizing nurses who excel in their dedication to patients, colleagues, and the communities they serve.

This year, the CoxHealth Nurse Inspiration Award – Gold was awarded to Kayci Norris-Hill from the Emergency Department at Cox Medical Center Branson, acknowledging her compassion, leadership, and steadfast support for others.

Kayci is renowned for her relentless pursuit of excellence in nursing. Although her experience and knowledge are vast, she ensures they do not impede those who are still learning. Instead, she is enthusiastic about sharing her insights, helping her teammates build confidence and skills to deliver the best care possible to patients.

Her dedication to teamwork is apparent throughout the department. Kayci consistently seeks ways to uplift and support those around her, establishing herself as a reliable resource and a motivating presence for both new and seasoned staff members.

For her patients, Kayci exemplifies compassionate care. She treats each individual with kindness, understanding, respect, and empathy, ensuring they feel acknowledged and cared for during their most challenging moments.

This compassion is particularly visible in high-pressure situations, as she possesses an extraordinary ability to stay calm and focused amid chaos, providing steady leadership and support when it is most needed.

As a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), Kayci undertakes a role that demands immense strength, compassion, and advocacy. She collaborates closely with vulnerable patients during extremely challenging circumstances, offering comfort, care, and support when they need it most.

Her commitment to advocacy reaches well beyond the hospital's confines. Kayci went through the necessary steps to become an approved emergency foster home, allowing her to provide temporary care for children in need. When the opportunity presented itself, she welcomed not just one child, but also that child's two siblings, ensuring they could stay together during a difficult period in their lives.

Kayci’s selflessness, compassion, and commitment create a lasting impact on patients, colleagues, and the community each day. She is frequently sought after by fellow staff members for guidance and encouragement, and her support for her team is unparalleled.

Thank you, Kayci, for being a steady source of encouragement, compassion, and excellence for your team and the community you serve.

We appreciate it when members of the community help us share a great story. This week, Leon Combs reached out with a beautiful memory about his aunt, Arkie Combs Peters. Along with the story, he shared this photo of the two of them, taken about 15 years ago. It turned out to be one of the most remarkable pieces of local history we've heard in a long time — and perfect for . Thank you, Leon, for sharing it with us!

It was January 1950, and Branson had a brand-new hospital. Skaggs Hospital had just opened its doors — gleaming, spotless, and waiting for its very first patient. That patient turned out to be a 25-year-old woman from Bradleyville named Arkie Combs.

Dr. Threadgill, one of the hospital's original physicians, told Arkie she needed surgery, and he saw a natural opportunity. Why not make history together? Arkie, young and good-natured, took it all in stride. She trusted her doctor completely, and with a smile, she agreed.

"Okay, just as long as everything turns out fine!"

And it did. After her surgery, Arkie settled in as the hospital's sole occupant for several days — the queen of the entire building, in a manner of speaking. What she remembers most is how clean everything was, and how wonderfully kind the staff were. The two nurses on duty made sure she felt right at home in Branson's newest facility.

The stay had one more sweet surprise in store. Either just before Arkie was discharged or right as she was heading home, a new mother delivered the hospital's very first baby. Skaggs had gone from zero patients to its first birth in the blink of an eye — a wonderful way to begin.

Arkie went on to live a full life, eventually making her home in Heyburn, Idaho. Yet her place in Branson history remains secure — she was there on day one, helping mark the beginning of a legacy of care that continues today.

There is something undeniably moving about watching an entire community light up in red, white, and blue.

As America prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, Cox Branson is proud to shine bright alongside the Ozarks' most celebrated destination — a small gesture of gratitude for the extraordinary nation and extraordinary community we are privileged to serve.

From our earliest days, Cox Medical Center Branson has been woven into the fabric of this community. We have been here for the milestones — the births, the recoveries, the second chances. Every day, we are reminded that caring for our neighbors is both a privilege and a responsibility.

America's semiquincentennial is more than a milestone. It is a testament to the resilience, ingenuity, and compassion of a people who have always looked out for one another. That spirit lives right here in Branson — in our neighbors, our volunteers, our healthcare workers, and in the dedicated teams whose tireless work helps our community thrive year after year.

If you're out and about in Branson this summer, take a moment to drive by the hospital and see the red, white, and blue lights shining across our campus. It's a simple way to celebrate our community, honor our nation's upcoming 250th anniversary, and reflect on all the reasons we're proud to call the Ozarks home.

Warning: extreme cuteness ahead. 🐾

Cox Branson hosted Puppies on the Patio and the smiles said it all.

Staff got to cuddle, play with, and meet some seriously adorable pups who are looking for their forever homes. Safe to say, hearts were melted, and a few tails were wagging double time.

This is what is all about ... because the people who give so much deserve a moment that gives a little back.
