Marivi Roman received her Associate Degree from La Universidad de Puerto Rico in Carolina and is a bilingual (English/Spanish) professional with over 10 years of experience . She has a strong background in customer support, operations, and process improvement. Marivi loves helping and meeting new people, and she is passionate about creating positive experiences for clients, coworkers, and the families she supports.
When she is not working, Marivi enjoys spending time with her family, doing family-friendly activities, and being a proud mom to her child on the autism spectrum.

October is AAC Awareness Month! 📱❤️
AAC is not about replacing a child’s voice. It’s about giving children more ways to have a voice.
Some children may use AAC alongside speech. Others may rely on AAC as their primary way of communicating.
Either way, communication is the goal—not a specific method.
At Kidspeak, we believe children deserve access to communication that allows them to express their wants, needs, ideas, feelings, and personalities.
Every communicator deserves a way to be heard.

So…what exactly is AAC? 📱
AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It includes the many ways a person can communicate when speech alone doesn’t meet all of their communication needs.
And AAC is much bigger than a tablet or communication app.
It can include gestures, signs, pictures, communication boards, writing, typing, and speech-generating devices.
AAC can also serve many different purposes. A child may use it to request something, answer a question, tell a joke, protest, share an idea, communicate an emotion, or participate in a conversation.
The goal of AAC isn’t simply to help a child “ask for things.”
The goal is functional, meaningful communication. ❤️
