We’re still having SO much fun as we wrap up some of our last few reading group sessions! 📚💛
Today we worked on digraphs, two letters that come together to make a new sound. To help make that idea a little more concrete, we brought out the paint! 🎨
We talked about how when we mix two colors together, they can make a new color… and when we put two letters together, they can make a new sound! We practiced sh, ch, th, wh, and ph, mixing our colors right where the two letters came together. Such a fun way to see what a digraph is while we practiced hearing and making each sound.
And because I apparently had one more trick up my sleeve… 😏🔦 we also searched for hidden pictures using a flashlight and sorted them by their digraph sounds. They absolutely LOVED this one.
They may have figured out how my “magic flashlight” was working by the end 😂, but I wasn’t about to officially give away my secret!
I love finding ways to make literacy hands-on, memorable, and FUN.
