A moment I’m incredibly grateful for! ✨

Today I had the honor of being a breakout speaker at the 2026 WV Oral Health Coalition Oral Health Summit, sharing my passion for orofacial myofunctional therapy and the important role it can play in looking beyond the teeth and caring for the whole patient.

A huge thank you to the WV Oral Health Coalition for the opportunity to be part of this incredible event and for trusting me to share this topic with fellow dental and healthcare professionals.

It was such a privilege to connect, educate, and hopefully inspire others to look at oral health through a broader lens. 🦷✨

So thankful for opportunities like this that allow me to continue growing, sharing what I love, and advocating for more connected, whole-patient care.

Thank you, WV Oral Health Coalition, for having me! 💛

See that difference? That's what consistency looks like.

In myofunctional therapy, one of the skills we work on is teaching the tongue where it's supposed to rest in the mouth. Sounds simple, right? But for a lot of people, the tongue has been sitting in the wrong spot for years, and the muscles need to be retrained to hold it in the right place.

The first picture is where we started. The tongue couldn't quite get up to the roof of the mouth and hold itself there.

The second picture is just a few sessions later. The tongue is suctioning up to the palate with better form, less overflow, and the placement is so much cleaner.

So why does this matter?

When your tongue rests in the right spot, it supports:

✅ Better breathing through your nose

✅ Quieter, more efficient swallowing

✅ Better sleep

✅ Support for orthodontic results that actually last

This kind of change doesn't happen from one magic exercise. It happens because this patient showed up, practiced a few minutes twice a day, and trusted the process.

If you or your child has been told you have a tongue thrust, mouth breathe at night, snore, or have trouble keeping your lips together during the day, myofunctional therapy might be worth looking into.
