• The total number of private rooms in the
nursing home has increased from 21 to 39.
• Each of the four existing neighborhoods now has its own quieter, more family-like common
area, which provides residents with more
intimate living spaces.
• Each neighborhood has its own
kitchenette and dining area, enabling dietary
staff to respond to individual needs and requests
with greater efficiency and eff

icacy.
• One neighborhood is designated as
a short-term rehabilitation unit, and another
neighborhood is a specialized memory care
unit.
• A third spa room has been created, and the
rehabilitative area enlarged.
• The older rooms have been renovated so that all of the bathrooms comply with the Americans
with Disabilities Act.
• New lighting has been installed in the original
(1959) rooms.
• The original (1959) windows and doors have been replaced with energy-efficient models.
• A new call system at the skilled nursing facility
is more technologically advanced and better
suited to the needs of residents.
• A full-power, back-up generator allows ULC
to provide uninterrupted care in the event of
a power outage, and to function as a regional
alternate care site/evacuation shelter in the case
of a weather disaster or homeland security crisis. In total, the project involved 13,024 sq. of new construction, the renovation of 8,577 sq. ft., and the modernization of 20,684 sq.

Another Country Store is in the books! As we pack everything away until next month, we’ve already had a few special requests from our residents. Some of the items they would love to see at the next store include women’s 2X pants, colored pencils and markers, magnifying glasses, quilts, and home décor items.

With garage sale season underway, we would greatly appreciate any donations of these items for our Country Store. Our residents earn “Bingo Bucks” by playing bingo and games, participating in activities, and completing their Daily Chronicle, which they can then use to shop at the store.

If you would like to donate, items can be dropped off at ULC’s front desk. Thank you for helping make our Country Store such a special experience for our residents!

Today was a perfect day for gardening! This morning we planted flowers and vegetables in our Morning View courtyard, and this afternoon we added even more flowers to our chapel courtyard. It was a wonderful day to get our hands dirty, enjoy the sunshine, and make our outdoor spaces even more beautiful. 🌸☀️🌱

This afternoon we got together to make bird feeders for the trees using bird seed and gelatin. It was a little sticky, but everyone did a great job and had so much fun creating them. Lexi put on a live bird feeder cam, and everyone was glued to the TV watching all the birds visit. 🐦🌳
