We love our quiet peaceful time to rejuvenate. Don says he feels so much more relaxed (mentally and physically) after our pool time. The socializing with regular pool goers and his stress relief of floating in the pool is priceless! Happy summer to you all!

Behind every impactful Recreation Therapy session is a C.T.R.S. who never stops learning!🧠
It's my NCTRC certificate renewal time and this requires staying on top of your CEU's. These education requirements help elevate the standard of care and advocate for the validity of what we do every single day. I've kept up on coursework related to Adaptive Recreation and even cognitive behavioral therapy interventions for those with mental illness.
We don't just "play" we purposefully provide evidence based interventions to heal! 🙌
As I turn in my 50 hours of CEU's to continue with my certificate, I wanted to remind everyone a recreation therapist is an advocate for all our clients and we work hard to keep our credentials legitimate!

Watching my kids and other loved ones pour their energy into adaptive exercise and creative play reminds me why recreation therapy matters so deeply.
For our veterans in these sessions aren’t just “fun time” — they help rebuild strength, lift mood, reduce feelings of isolation, spark memories, and bring back that sense of camaraderie and purpose.

We can all learn from their work ethic and yheir tenacity to never give up.

Proud of our Eddy name!

eddy
/ĕd′ē/ : A drift or tendency that is counter to or separate from a main current, as of opinion, tradition, or history.

My favorite part about being a recreation therapist is educating people what they CAN do instead of the default mentality of what is taken away from us when someone has a disability. Recreation Therapy is there to counteract the "dis"ability and educate people what they are ABLE to do.
Don't go with the flow, be like an Eddy, go against the current and make your recreation happen that is not happening right now.

Every day brings its own battles. Like here on this ramp each day when we go swimming is when Don starts talking to himself out loud 'we got this, here we go!'. Jameson usually sits there cheering him on or holding the door for us. It's incredible seeing flashes of Dons determination as he faces the challenge of moving his body each day. Love
