For years, I was taught not to trust my own body.
From the ages of 14 to 28, I averaged a doctor’s appointment every three months—because every three months, my life fell apart.
Again and again, I was told:
“Your labs are normal.”
“You’re just depressed.”
“It’s anxiety.”
Then I was handed another prescription—even though medication after medication caused awful side effects and I continued getting sicker. 💔
Today, I am healthier than I have ever been—not because someone finally swooped in and saved me, but because I stopped allowing other people to be the ultimate authority over what I felt inside my own body.
I started listening to her.
I started believing her.
I started asking why.
I started looking beneath the symptoms.
I took responsibility for my healing and refused to stop searching for answers. 🌱
That is what Ashes to Freedom is about.
It’s about rising from everything that taught us to abandon ourselves.
It’s about reclaiming our voices, trusting our intuition, listening to the wisdom within our bodies, and remembering that we are active participants in our own healing. 🔥
Medication can absolutely save lives—but it should never replace listening, investigating, and treating the whole human being.
Chronically ill people deserve more than dismissal and symptom management.
We deserve curiosity.
We deserve informed consent.
We deserve practitioners who keep looking.
We deserve actual care. ❤️🩹
If you have ever been told that what you feel is “all in your head,” please hear me:
Your symptoms are real.
Your pain is real.
Your body is communicating with you.
And you are not wrong for continuing to search for answers.
Your healing belongs to you.
Your voice belongs to you.
Your power belongs to you.
It’s time to take them back. 🔥🦋
