Many times I hear:
"I am eating more protein."
And when we take a closer look, that protein is often accompanied by quite a bit of fat.
Before we go any further, there is something important you need to know.
The amount of fat also depends on the cut and the part of the animal you choose. A chicken breast is not the same as a chicken thigh. A pork loin is not the same as other, fattier cuts.
✔️ During the hormonal transition and menopause, it's a good idea to watch the amount of saturated fat we consume.
✔️ Most animal-based foods provide protein, but they also bring saturated fat along with them in varying amounts.
✔️ That's why it's usually a good idea for most of our protein during the week to come from leaner options, leaving the fattier ones for specific moments.
And here comes something I see a lot in my practice...
There are women who make a massive effort to increase their protein intake, but they get it mainly from high-fat foods. In the end, they wind up consuming more calories than they think, and that can make weight loss harder.
It’s not about eliminating foods.
It’s about finding the right balance for your daily life.
