I saw a magnet recently that reads, “Gardening, cheaper than therapy, and you get tomatoes.” It may not be for everyone, but simple, mindful gardening offers a boost to wellbeing that can’t be ignored. And of course, if gardening is out of reach, try a houseplant or even a walk through a park. Give it a try, and cultivate a little peace in the process..

If you’d like to cultivate a little peace for yourself—whether in a garden or elsewhere—reach out. Helping is what I do. Adam Scheldt.com

We’re all human, and we all have biases, emotions, and predilections that shift how we understand things. In short, we don’t see things as they are, we see things as WE are. Once we recognize that, we have the opportunity to ask why. And in so doing, we learn about ourselves. It’s a fascinating and often enlightening little thought exercise. Follow for more, and be well.

I visited a place that finds loving homes for wayward plants and flowers—great for the plants, dangerous for my bank account. The best I can do is help the few (…hundred) that I can. Whether its roses or just a measure of inner peace and wellness, it’s good to try to grow something.

Meet me in the comments with what you want to grow. Let’s elevate your life and help you be well. AdamScheldt.com

Going out for a walk near trees is a simple and often overlooked remedy to stress, anxiety, depression, shortened attention spans, and even poor immune function. It can also help stop downward emotional spirals. These benefits have been proven in study after study (and I didn’t even touch on the physical benefits!). The best part is that its really pleasant. So go take a stroll and connect to the natural world a little bit, and be well!

Joy is more than a response to an experience, it’s actually a habit. And, it’s a habit that helps us to counter all the chaos, stress, and negativity that life constantly throws at us. We build a habit of joy and happiness by noticing the good and actively choosing to find something that makes us happy—no matter how small.

So let’s get started: what’s one thing that’s made you smile?

It’s easy to let tomorrow’s burdens darken today’s sunshine. We all do it. And, to be sure, today’s emotions CAN effect tomorrow’s outcomes. Walking into the future with dread and fear sets the stage for even greater negativity as things actually unfold. All the more reason to take in the pleasures of your present. It gives you greater capacity for a better future, and offers you more resilience if struggles really do arise.

Creative expression slows aging, lowers stress, and improves how your brain works. And when you enjoy the arts with someone you love, all of those benefits get an extra boost. So the next museum trip, the gallery opening, the concert you've been putting off—those aren't indulgences. They're investments. Tag a friend and make a plan. Learn more at AdamScheldt.com

We've been told that multitasking makes us more effective, but research says otherwise. Multitasking isn't a skill. It isn't even a real thing. What your brain is actually doing is task-switching—rapidly hopping from one thing to the next, over and over, at a significant cost. Memory problems, elevated cortisol, chronic stress, and eventual burnout are all on the other side of that multitasking marathon. There's a better way, and it consistently outperforms the mythical multitasking everyone tries to do. Save this one.

Your environment and your inner world are in constant conversation. A chaotic room, a cluttered desk, an outfit you feel uncomfortable in—all of it transfers into your mind & emotions. Create the space you want to be in, and watch how it changes the way you feel. Its one of the simplest and most overlooked ways to feel better. And yes, this includes your bedroom.
