Knowing how to perform CPR is just as important as knowing when to use it.
In this video, I cover a few common infant CPR mistakes I see:
🤍 Keep your shoulders directly over your hands—not leaning back—so you can deliver effective compressions.
🤍 Current guidelines no longer recommend using just two fingers for infant compressions in many situations. Depending on the rescuer and circumstances, techniques such as the encircling thumbs method or the heel of one hand for larger infants may be more appropriate.
🤍 Compression rate and depth matter, too: aim for 100–120 compressions per minute and a depth of about 1.5 inches (4 cm).
But CPR is so much more than memorizing numbers.
In my private, non-certification 1:1 CPR classes, you'll learn:
✨ Infant and child CPR
✨ How to recognize when CPR is actually needed
✨ Choking rescue for babies and children
✨ How and when to use an AED
✨ Drowning prevention and what to do in an emergency
✨ Hands-on practice so you leave feeling confident—not overwhelmed
When an emergency happens, there's no time to second-guess yourself. Practicing these skills ahead of time can help you respond with greater confidence when every second counts.
Classes are available in-home throughout the Tampa Bay area or virtually anywhere.
