🗣️PSA❗️ Just because your child's lips are closed at rest, does not mean they are achieving proper lingual palatal suction!

We are always on the lookout for open mouth posture when sleeping or at rest (like in photo 1), but what is that tongue really doing behind those properly sealed lips? (photo 2 at rest; photo 3 when mouth is manually opened)

Over time, improper tongue posture can lead to sleep disordered breathing, ADHD symptoms, restless sleeping, improper airflow leading to speech disorders or "lisp," tongue thrust, and feeding challenges.

If you are concerned about your infant or child's oral motor skills or lingual posture, please reach out for a free consult.
