We are looking for several folks to add to our list of feeders. We travel regularly, usually on weekends, and we need individuals who can feed for us when we are gone. This is generally a good job for high school students who want to earn a little extra money to go to the movies on Saturday night. A number of our regulars graduated and went off to college this year, so we are trying to fill the ranks.

It takes about an hour to feed horses and a dog, put out hay, and check the water trough. Large animal experience would be helpful but not absolutely necessary. There isn't any heavy lifting, but this is a physical job that requires a certain amount of strength and mobility. We pay $25/day and usually need someone to feed on Saturday and Sunday when we are gone.

We are located in Burke and are easily accessible from Lufkin, Diboll, or Hudson. We know high schoolers are busy, which is why we like to have five or six folks we can call on.

Alois Podhajsky of the Spanish Riding School made that statement in his book “The Complete Training of Horse and Rider” in 1967. Nearly 60 years later, a big part of what we do at 4R Farm involves helping kids learn self-control. Whether it’s physical self-control due to hyperactivity or impulsivity or emotional self-regulation related to anxiety or autism, horses help kids learn to control themselves.
