Happy National Nurses Week! (May 6–12)

Today, I’m especially grateful for the profession that shaped who I am — and continues to influence how I care for my patients every day.

Nursing is more than a job. It’s advocacy, compassion, critical thinking, and showing up for people during some of their most vulnerable moments.

After more than 30 years in healthcare, I’m proud to still call myself a nurse.

I thought I would share a little more about me — and why I do what I do.

I’m Donna Wirt, DNP, FNP-BC, MSCP, owner of Triple Health Functional Medicine Clinic here in Burlington, Iowa.

I’ve worked in healthcare for over 30 years, starting my nursing career in 1992. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa in 2000, and recently completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice at Clarke University in 2024.

I’m certified in perimenopause and menopause care through The Menopause Society and have completed advanced training in functional medicine through the School of Applied Functional Medicine.

But more than credentials — this work is personal.

Like many women, I experienced firsthand how confusing and frustrating menopause care can be — and how often symptoms are dismissed in our healthcare system. That experience didn’t just impact me, it changed the direction of my career and ultimately led me to open my own clinic.

Because women deserve better.

They deserve to be heard, taken seriously, and given real answers.

At Triple Health, I focus on helping midlife women navigate perimenopause and menopause, optimize hormones, and uncover the root causes of symptoms that are too often dismissed.

My mission is simple:
Rebalance. Restore. Revitalize.

I’m proud to be from this community — born and raised in the Burlington area, and have lived in Mediapolis for over 30 years with my husband. We’ve raised two amazing kids here, and this community means everything to me.

Helping women isn’t just my profession — it’s my purpose.

We’re a functional medicine clinic specializing in perimenopause and menopause care, so this is a great fit if you enjoy working closely with patients in a more personalized, supportive setting.

We are looking for a part-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our growing team.

This is a morning position (around 8 AM – 12 PM, 16–20 hours/week) with the opportunity to grow into full-time as the clinic expands.

👉 Phlebotomy experience REQUIRED
👉 At least 1 year of clinical experience preferred
👉 Mix of clinical + front desk responsibilities

A meaningful shift at Triple Health

As the clinic has grown, I’ve taken a step back to look at where I can make the greatest impact—and the answer is clear.

Moving forward, Triple Health will focus exclusively on women in midlife navigating perimenopause and menopause.

This means I will now specialize in:
✨ Hormone therapy (MHT/HRT)
✨ Symptom relief and optimization during perimenopause and menopause
✨ Root-cause functional medicine support for this stage of life

As a certified menopause provider, I am passionate about delivering evidence-based, personalized care for women in this stage of life. This is how this journey began.

This change allows me to go deeper, provide more specialized care, and deliver better outcomes for the women I serve.

The support from our community has been incredible, and I am truly grateful.

Thank you to everyone who has offered encouragement and positive feedback along the way. A special thank you to our pilot patients who helped us refine our systems and processes, and to those who have already joined the waiting list.

I’m also excited to introduce Aimee Wagenbach, our first team member! Aimee will be reaching out soon to patients on the waiting list to begin scheduling.
