A little Friday pull for the collective

đź’śđź’“insight đź’śđź’“

Sometimes we look outside ourselves for the advice, opinions, answers and decisions.

But by self-evaluating, tuning in to truly listen, we can bring awareness to our own valuable insight.

You DO hold all the answers. Even in the chaos, the messy and confusing.

Good morning!

Today’s reminder: be courageous.

With your choices. With your life. With your soul.

Sometimes our soul’s deepest calling is scary. It leads us into discomfort.

But when we follow the voice of our soul, when we listen to the “calling” we become on our most aligned path.

Do it scared. ❤️💜❤️💜

Today’s guided meditation: Family

A little collective pull from the chakra deck this morning and how fitting that we start off with the root chakra!

The root chakra is our sense of safety, security and belonging. Family is often perfectly tied into that.

Family can be a diverse topic for many. Blended families, loss of family, family trauma, big families, small families the list goes on and on.

But family at the root, holds our sense of belonging. We often hold space in our hearts for those that feel like home and we often forget that family can be those we choose. It goes beyond blood.

So if family is striking a chord with you today, breathe with me.

Namaste 🙏💜💓

On my vacation this week I found this amazing oracle deck dedicated to the Chakras. I immediately bought it as a tool to use in my practice.

Yoga can help with alignment of the 7 chakras or energy systems of the body. More to come on it all later!

Why the Lotus? Why the Loon?

Back in December, I started trying to name this little business of mine. I tossed around countless ideas, but nothing felt quite right. I even created this page under a different name and never made a single post because it just didn't feel ready.

Then, as often happens, everything came together when I stopped trying so hard to force it.

During a brainstorming session, I started pouring all of my thoughts onto paper. The Lotus came easily. Its meaning runs deep for me, and I'll share more about that in another post. But "Lotus" by itself felt incomplete. Even though it held so much significance, I knew something was missing.

Around that same time, I kept noticing one card from my spirit animal deck appearing again and again. My daughter would bring it to me repeatedly. No other cards—just this one.

The Loon.

Every time I see that card, I feel something. Loons were my mom's favorite. Since her passing, I've often felt that she sends me little messages through my daughter, and this felt like one of them.

In that moment, I knew the Loon belonged in my business.

The loon symbolizes intuition, emotional depth, and the courage to dive beneath the surface. It reminds us that healing isn't always found in staying afloat—sometimes it's found in exploring what lies beneath and returning renewed.

Suddenly, the missing piece was there.

Lotus and Loon.

A name that represents growth, transformation, intuition, and connection. A name that honors both my journey and my mom's memory.

The circle felt complete.

"But Emily, I'm not good at yoga. I can't meditate. I'm not flexible."

When I talk about yoga, these are some of the most common things I hear. But yoga is so much more than poses.

It is stillness.
It is acceptance.
It is awareness.

Yoga does not care if you master every pose.

Yoga does not care if you can touch your toes or turn yourself into a human pretzel.

Honestly, if being "good" at yoga was based on flexibility and poses alone, I wouldn't be very good at it either!

Yoga is about showing up exactly as you are.

It is about listening to your body.

Connecting to yourself.

Slowing down long enough to notice what is happening within you.

This is not a place for performance.

This is not a place where you need to be the best.

This is a place where you can simply be.

A place to breathe.

A place to release.

A place to come home to yourself.

So no, you don't need to be flexible.

You don't need to be experienced.

You don't need to be "good at yoga."

You just need to show up as you.

And that is more than enough 🩵💙💜

As I get ready to be brave enough to share this page with the world, I wanted to reflect on my "why" and my hopes for Lotus and Loon Wellness.

When I recently looked back on my life, I realized something:

I've made it through a lot.

But what ultimately led me to yoga was the loss of my mom in 2024, layered on top of a running injury—my usual way of coping with just about everything.

For the first time, I couldn't run from my grief.

I was forced to sit with it.

And honestly, I didn't know if I could bear it.

I began seeking out healers who encouraged me, held space for me, and gently guided me through some of the darkest moments of my life.

Yoga became my safe place to fall apart.

A place where I realized I was not a problem to be fixed.

A place where I could sit with the darkness within myself and eventually find my way through it.

A place for release.

A place to feel safe with my emotions.

A place to come home to myself, even while I was still hurting.

Yoga is so much more than exercise or poses.

It is a practice of connection—to your body, your breath, your emotions, and yourself.

It can be a place of safety when you're going through it.

It can bring you home.

My hope for Lotus and Loon is to create that kind of space for others.

For those navigating grief, transition, uncertainty, or simply feeling lost.

My goal is not to provide all of life's answers or tell you what path to take.

My hope is to help you slow down, listen, and reconnect with the wisdom that already lives within you.

To guide you back to your knowing.

Back to yourself.

This business has been floating around in my brain for about a year now. After my mom passed in 2024, I went on a spiritual deep dive and became a certified yoga instructor. I realized then that I had a passion for helping others reflect, find inner peace and stillness all while moving their bodies with intention.

After working in the fitness industry, where it was all "go, go go" I so welcomed this transition in my life where I could "slow down" and process my emotions and be still with my own intuition.

Eventually, I started doing virtual sessions with one of my closest friends and realized I could offer this practice to others. Making Yoga accessible from the comfort of your own home.

Someday, I dream that I will open my own little studio where I can welcome community members to meet on the mat. But for now, I am here to offer my services virtually and in local community settings.

If you do want to find me for a live class, I currently teach and practice at:
