“Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2
I’ve come to believe some angels arrive with hooves, paws, whiskers, and feathers.
Cowboy, a black and white cat who just appeared one day, continues to show up exactly when someone needs company.
Cloud is a Mustang who ended up at an Oklahoma auction, where her future looked grim. Now she lives here, and she notices everything and carries with her a quiet and gentle kindness.
Peanut is another kitty who zoomed into my life out of nowhere as a kitten and then stayed — traveling from SC to the NC mountains where she is now Queen of the porch.
Jacob is a Great Pyrenees who keeps watch over all of us.
And then there’s Howdy Stranger, another kitty. For five years he’s popped up every other day or so, wanting love but keeping his fierce independence. He’s taught me that welcome doesn’t have to mean holding on tightly. His life is fully free.
Horace is a black cat who literally just walked in the door 10 years ago and made himself at home. He is the meekest but most confident cat I’ve ever met.
Nate, my horse and companion for the last 18 years, I can’t even begin to tell you about him in a sentence or two.
There are so many more!
