I think over the winter it was easy for me to forget that my best work has not been done inside of a brick and mortar location.
While I've loved being able to provide that resource; my favorite part of this work comes in the quiet moments no one sees except for me and the other person involved.
For me, this work is most fulfilling when I get to connect with the people I'm helping.
It's having an extra bag in my car and seeing a man carrying a garbage bag full of stuff only to find out he's living unhoused as a blind man. It's giving my camping sleep mat to someone who is sleeping in a parking lot and needs it way more than I do. It's sitting with someone for an hour listening to their story when really I should be doing the work that pays my bills. It's watching someone cry and say "thank you" because I told them that I just wanted to help regardless of what their story is after they've been getting yelled at all day by passerby's who think they should just get a job. It's having someone tell me "it's because of you that I now carry naloxone with me everywhere I go".
I was reminded today.

As I move into this transition where my program is more up in the air then I'd like for it to be, please remember that it is important for our community to care for each other and you don't need a lot to make a difference, sometimes all people need is a little bit of your time or some things you already have laying around and don't use 🩵

This is your last chance to get any Naloxone (Nasal or intermuscular), Plan B, pregnancy tests, condoms, sanitary items, and hygiene needs from Totalus! Only 2 more weeks before they close. I will have the products at my home for a short time after that and can set up pick up or drop off within a reasonable distance for you! After that, I am looking for somewhere to donate these products and anything left over will be stored at a friend's house in Pittsburgh.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we will not be looking for a new location to move to after Totalus closes their doors, which is now looking like will be at the end of May.
Get in there or make your orders from doordash for your harm reduction needs while you still can! Once they're gone they will not be restocked and anything remaining will be stored away while I take a break.
Thank you to everyone that has supported my mission thus far. I was able to build so much so quickly and get supplies into the hands of a lot of people, I'm very proud of that. This decision wasn't easy to make, but right now the need outweighs my capacity to carry it and it's important that I recognize that so I'm able to come back in the future as a stronger program, should shifting policies and things like funding restrictions on harm reduction not make that impossible before I'm ready to return.
Thank you all again, please continue to care for each other. This is not goodbye, it's just see you later 🩵

We are unsure what this means for us yet. We will be working to find a solution, but for now you can still stop by the shop and get anything you need or order it through doordash (the items are free, but doordash will charge you for delivery)

Due to personal reasons, I have made the very difficult decision to not attend events this summer. I will be considering Fall Festival, it will just depend on how things are going for me.

This does NOT mean we are going to stop providing resources to our community, it just means that we have to adjust how we are providing the resources so we can still meet the community's needs while honoring our own.
Today we took ALL of our products to the pantry at Totalus!
In this little corner of the shop you can find:
•lubricant
•lubricated condoms
•large condoms
•latex free condoms
•internal condoms (labeled as female condoms, but we prefer inclusive language)
•dental dams
•pregnancy tests
•morning after pill
•hygeine products including menstrual products and summer to-go kits that have items you may need in a pinch
•boxes of nasal naloxone that include 2 individual naloxone as well as now the option to just grab a single one if that feels better for you
•Innermuscular Naloxone
•Fentanyl test strip kits
•PA Groundhogs kits
•many different kinds of educational literature

All of these items are available free of charge, but there are also some $5 condom tins and $2 travel CPR masks available for purchase at the register, with all proceeds going into continuing this program.

The shop hours are as follows:
Tuesday-Friday 11a-7p
Saturday 11a-4p

Unfortunately they are closed on Sunday and Monday. I am working out a plan to cover the emergency items on those days, but right now I do not have anything solid. Stay tuned as I intend to focus more on the social media side of things since I am taking a step back physically and this is more manageable for me in my current phase of life.

As some of you may already know, Butler County Sheriff's office no longer offers Naloxone to our community—making Totalus the only local distribution site. In response to this, we are adding IM (intramuscular) Naloxone to the lineup of harm reduction products we offer.
Each IM Naloxone kit will come with 2 vials of Naloxone and 2 sterile syringes for administration and for the time being will be packaged in brown paper bags as it is important that IM Naloxone not be exposed to the sun.

IMPORTANT NOTE‼️
While we offer a limited amount of sharps containers and will be offering sterile syringes in these kits—we DO NOT offer a needle exchange program as that service is still illegal in most of the state of Pennsylvania, with exceptions only being made in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
Our partners at PA Groundhogs are working tirelessly with our state representatives to transform this law to expand the legality of needle exchange programs to the rest of the state as well, and they are always looking for community support.
