Our incredible neurodivergent community continues to grow, and with that comes a greater awareness of the importance of creating spaces where neurodivergent children can feel safe, supported, and free to explore.

At Therapy Gyms, we’ve designed sensory spaces for clinics, gyms, schools, and other therapeutic environments — and we want to highlight what’s also possible right at home. 🏡

We’re looking for an Atlanta-area homeowner who is interested in creating a custom sensory gym or play space in their home. We’re offering a discounted rate in exchange for being able to photograph and feature the finished space in our portfolio.

“Look at the differences between a typical preschool child’s hand (left) and a typical 7 year old hand (right). Want to know why a preschool aged child isn’t able to write yet? This is why! Their hands are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Play dough, coloring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing balls, etc.
All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready.” ❤️

Lately, you've probably noticed more kid-oriented play spaces using words like *sensory* or *inclusive*, and we love seeing more businesses thinking intentionally about how kids play.

But a true sensory gym is about more than adding a few swings or colorful equipment. It's a thoughtfully designed environment where every piece of the space serves a purpose—helping children build regulation, coordination, confidence, and independence through play.

At We Rock the Spectrum Lakewood, that's been our mission from day one.

That's why parents can see nearly every corner of our gym from wherever they're sitting—so they can relax, connect, or simply enjoy watching their child play instead of constantly following them from activity to activity.

That's why we intentionally avoid overcrowding our space with flashing lights, loud toys, or towering play structures that can quickly become overwhelming for both kids and parents.

That's why we created dedicated spaces for our biggest and smallest friends—so every child has room to explore, learn, and play safely at their own pace.

To us, sensory play isn't just a buzzword. It's:

This was the first gym we built over 6 years ago using our RIG system. 5 rooms 4 swing rigs, 100’s of kids and families helped !! It feels great to know that our work makes a difference and stands the test time 🎉

Can you believe it?! We are officially 6 months old today! 👣✨

6 months has flown by, and we have been having SO much fun bringing inclusive, sensory-safe play to our amazing community.

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to every single family, organization, school and clinic that has helped spread the word, shared our mission, partnered with us, believed in us, encouraged us and has come to play with us. We see you and are so thankful! Thank you for supporting our vision, and choosing us as a place for your little ones to learn, grow, and play at their own pace. We couldn’t do this without you! 🙌
