Storytime…

When I first started at the Walt Disney Travel Company in 1986, it was the start of what would become my dream career. I still remember vividly walking up the stairs in the Travel Port after what was an unconventional path to working at Disney. I even can “smell” the experience in my memories.

The first person who interviewed me was Danette. I sat across the desk in what was Jenny Price’s office and remember thinking my gosh she was the perfect embodiment of who I thought was what a Disney CM would look and act like. The interview went well and then she sent me across the street to Casting.

At the old Admin building, I was then interviewed by Meridith. Again, another representation of a perfect Disney CM in my mind. That interview also went well. This was December 5, 1985. I remember well because it was the day of Skyfest. That set the wheels in motion for me moving from Hawaii in Feb of 1986.

Fast forward to today’s where Danette and Meridith just happened to comment right after each other on my post. Just brought a smile to my face when I recognized the coincidence. 😀

As y’all know, besides Jiminy, Sorceror Mickey is my fave. So it didn’t take too much arm twisting for Patty to make me agree to do this. I’m also nowhere close to being a runner. So I always knew I would probably get a participation medal for this.

Made it almost to mile four and then got to see the amazing sweeping system in action. But honestly, it created so many moments and got to see so many more friends than if not for that.

Despite constant prodding from me for Patty to go on, being the great friend she is, she stayed with me. So, grateful we could do it together.

All in all, such a great experience. And for my first, and most likely last, 10K, will remember this day forever… 😀
